The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. Do you think NDAQ has bottomed? It has been hammered since its top at 42.

Beanie,

Looking at QQQQ's chart, I clearly see a double-top. Therefore isn't it dangerous to be buying calls or did you mean puts??

Pamfla,

How you doing? Did you sell XNN to buy ONSM? I guess you didn't read my message. ONSM has formed a top and it usually means its going down. OSNM is a trade and you should of sold thursday or friday the lastest. It's a bad speculative stock. High risk low reward. They are hugely in dept and like Beanie said they must find a way to generate more cash.(sell more stocks to the public) Unless you plan on holding this for a long time I would suggest you get out. Yes it can go up but too risky.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi all. I have gotten some good trading ideas here (thanks Beanie!) so wanted to give one back. Take a look at FFHL for next week and beyond. Is a China IPO that came out last week on the low end of its IPO price (in the 8's) and had a strong week last week.

Will tell you up front it is a boring company (makes plastic film, but LOTS of it) but it is comparable to EDU. Has 2005 revenue of $42.9 million, 2005 income of $7.1 million and 1-Year sales growth of 336.8%.

http://moneycentral.hoovers.com/
global/msn/factsheet.xhtml?COID=154720

FFHL revenue for the first nine months of the year (2006) amounted to US$39.5 million, net income was US$5.6 million.

Many on various boards and rooms are comparing this to EFUT except the float is even smaller and they make a lot more money and has explosive potential in next few weeks.

Look at the charts, do your DD and Merry Christmas!!

Concerned Daytrader,

You are right, the chart technicals are breaking down. In fact, we are seeing negative divergences the last couple of months on the nasdaq.

On top of that, the QQQQ on friday broke down the 50dayMA even though it was on low volume. The QQQQ is at oversold territory right now (but it doesn't mean it can't be more oversold). I am worried for the next couple of months, but since i am giving you this pick as a day or swing trade i am banking on an immediate term bounce that could happen next week if we are to have a January Effect rally, which encompasses the next 2 weeks.

I am cautious and hopeful at the same time, hopeful that we will get the January Effects rally starting next week. I could be wrong but buying Tuesday's gap down should allow us to be immediately profitable, because most stocks do not just gap down and continue lower without at least a short bounce (for at least a daytrade).

Sat Dec 23, 07:42:00 PM EST
Blogger gosu said...

Right on Beanie. Your call two days ago for buying QQQQ at morning dip at 43.5 was awesome for a daytrade.
Here is what I am looking at that is concerning
- The number of stocks above their 50 day moving average is just 58%, last month it was 74%.
- The number of NYSE stocks making new highs is 113, vs 6 which are making a new low. This means that profit taking is around the corner.

I liked his book, The Selfish Gene, alot when i was in college but lately Richard Dawkins is out of his mind. The next Ann Coulter! Yikes!

I wouldn't take Richard Dawkins too seriously regarding his attack on the Religion and his attack on the spiritual world in general. He is kinda like Ann Coulter, the ultra conservative blonde we see on tv so often. They tend to be outrageous to get attention and to sell more books. The "smart money" do not take them seriously, but the "dumb money" does and buy their books.

Don't believe everything in the Bible because much of it was written by men to control men. But do believe that there is Universal Intelligence - "God" if you will. The creationists are correct believing that there is universal intelligence. Universal intelligence (God) can be observed indirectly. Look at everything around us. The living plant, the planetary cycles, equations in physics, are observable events that cannot be due to randomness. There is order, and where there is order there is universal intelligence at work. There is just no way around that. The truly most intelligent people on the planet do believe in a God, such as Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, and many others. Very few of them are creationists in the strictest since; in fact, they do not believe in a Biblical God but they believe in a Universal Intelligence that is manifest throughout the universe. Where the strict creationists (the church goers) run into problems defending themselves is when they start introducing the Biblical God. The creationists have enough common sense to realize that it is impossible for pure randomness to run everything around us. But they don't have enough common sense to realize that much of the bible was written by men to control men.

That's how evolutionists like Richard Dawkins can argue against the creationists and can stand a fighting chance. The evolutionists like Darwin and Dawkins are correct about their evolutionary theories. Most people who believe in Universal Intelligence (God) would agree that evolution is responsible for the origin of different species. (Most creationists also agree. Again, where the creationists get in trouble is when they talk about a Biblical God.) Between Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins, Richard Dawkins is very limited in his thinking and a little bit confused because he's mixing evolutionary theories with creation of life, whereas Charles Darwin never did. What Richard Dawkins (please don't confuse Richard Dawkins with Stephen Hawking, who is alot smarter than Dawkins) doesn't realize is that evolution explains the ORIGIN of species - that is how species came to be and how they evolve, but evolutionary theories (as proposed by Darwin's Theory of Evolution) were NOT meant to explain how a living being came about! Evolutionary theories as proposed by Darwin explain how one species can end up creating a NEW SPECIES thru natural selection. Even Charles Darwin himself shied away from talking about the origin of a living organism (as opposed to a species), because he knew he couldn't explain it with evolutionary theories and without introducing some form of Universal Intelligence! Charles Darwin knew it would totally confuse the "scientists" if he did, and likely his theories would not have been accepted. To this day, our school system have altogether neglect the discussion of how a living being came about. Instead, our biology books make a one liner claim that somehow we were created by all the inorganic elements somehow randomly bumping into each other for millions of years in some sort of "primordial soup". Bunch of jokers!!! lol... Common sense, probability/statistical theories, and the physical sciences know that is a total impossbility.

The creationists are half right (because of their biblical god) and the evolutionists (because of their confusion in what evolutionary theories can and cannot explain) is also half correct. Like everything else, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Evolution and Universal Intelligence (God/Mother Nature) are not mutually exclusive. Universal intelligence is expressed in the cycles of the planets, in every living being, in the inorganic elements, laws of gravity and inertia, in evolution, in everywhere. Go with Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein! Their life's work eventually allowed them to appreciate Universal Intelligence. Don't go with Richard Dawkins, who is just plainly confused.

Hi Beanie,
It would not surprise me to know that you're interested in diverse study of politics and religion. I am also deeply interested in politics and religion. And agree to your point of view, and would usually shy away from discussing religion by saying; "man's wisdom is finite that it still cannot comprehend the infinite wisdom or reason of creation and being of our universe and us".

I have not read that message you supposedly written in Message Board. You might not remember, but way back when the oil stocks where coming down. You were one of the handful who answered my query about VLO. And you invited me to check out your blog here. And to this day, I do not doubt your honest intentions- as I said before, you may not have a crystal ball but I only need a handful of winners to make it. Neil,
I'd been trading actively for at least 4 years now. But I'd becoming more of a short term/day trader than long term. Since I think I am getting better at it, I plan to change my ratio of holdings to 50/50 short/long.
And it's more viable option, because I really don't have a lot of money to burn. Got to make every $ work for me. If I can make at least 25% return every year that will be ok, 50% return/yr will be great. Just have to stay focused.
I am doing better because I only pick and chose the ones that I can really handle-emotionally that is.
Errors are reduced if not eliminated.
Merry Christmans!

Seriously, I think I am ready, been doing more and more and I have never lost a dime so far- least I've gained in day was $197, most was $1080. Most gain in short-term: $2700; long-term as of friday, even when stocks down- I am ahead by 12%. But of course you are right, one lousy day at trading can wipe out your gains. 1) Use baby oil and shove a finger (thumb) up the arse whenever you can do it - several times a day. Doesn't require alot of time and the hemmorhoids stay in temporarily.

2) Instead of sittin on the toilet, try to squat instead when you defecate. And let is loose with as less straining as possible.

That's all! Not only am i the president of this natural cure, i am also a member! lol

It works.

In 3 weeks or so, those annoying hemms should disappear completely.

Randi.org $1 milllion test for psychics.

I read it and i also noticed that Richard Dawkins used it in his book to debunk psychics. I am really starting to think Dawkins hasn't done much of research into the phenomenon but is really into pushing his book. I am very surprised that some of his scientific caliber made such a scientific blooper.

The simple fact is no psychic will win that $1 million. In fact, if you devise the test the same way that the Randi.org did, nobody will win anything in any other type of tests - whether it be a test for psychic phenomenon or a test for aspirin's effectiveness.

Anybody can offer that 1 million and devise the test that everyone will eventually fail. For instance, if you say aspirin works for headaches, and i say it doesn't and i'm willing to give you $1 million buck to prove it.

Here's how i will devise my test so that YOU WILL FAIL (I will test Aspirin because that is probably the drug with one of the highest successes. See, i'm even gonna help you out a bit. If i test your cancer drug, you will fail for sure!):

1) Preliminary test. I give you 4 migraine patients, and you give each the patients your aspirin. If it works on 3 out of 4 then you pass and get to go on to the main test.

2) Main test. I will have 30 migraine subjects, and you will give them each an aspirin of yours and most (at least 23) or all of them better get well or else you fail. (I may even add another test just in case you pass this 30 subjects...lol)

Now, even though it has been scientifically proven that aspirin works on headache patients, I know for a fact that YOU WILL FAIL THE TEST!

The reason is that aspirins don't work on all people all the time!

Aspirin is considered "scientific" because they have done double blinded clinical studies on it. But aspirin is by no means 100 effective. If fact, the results can vary alot. The researchers use statistical analysis on the results and if signficant enough, they they start pushing the drug into the market. Studies have shown that aspirin can be effective on 30%-70% of the patients. (By the way, cancer drugs, on the other hand, has a much lower success rate, like 10-20%. But they're still considered scientific! See you would have failed miserably if i give ya $1 million if you could prove to me that your cancer drug works, even after your cancer drug was proven scientific. Based on the my testing criteria that i use, you will fail and fail miserably everytime.)

I would be considered a slick boy if i give you my test, knowing you would fail everytime. But the truth is, i owe you a million bucks because, you were right, aspirin is effective and has been proven to be effective. It just won't pass my test, and because it won't pass my test i can claim aspirin is quackery. That is exactly what Randi.org and Richard Dawkins is doing!!!!

Jim,
My modest success in earning that much in day-trading is not all about buying the right stocks(bought enough losser to equal my winning picks), it's how money is managed. There were some really good buys which I held a little bit longer and I even posted it how long I intend to hold it like 100 shares of EFUT-buy at 11.64 sold at 39, 200DIVX sold at 29, 4500 FORG buy at 1.12 sold at 1.24 , 2000 ONSM 3.125 sold at 3.75 and others. When I said I did not lose money on a day that means I would actually sell some stocks even at a loss just to free up my cash to buy the hot stocks of the day. Very risky, of course. But I only risk the money I gained not the original money I put in. The idea is if I made a bad trade that day, I just need to break even and have enough money to trade again the next time. Doing research is good and you can do all your DD and if you're not lucky, you can still lose.
That's why it is worth repeating: learn about managing risk, of selling 1/2 your winners- particularly a very high risk/reward stocks, of being nimble in managing your holdings. To sum it all up- DD+decisiveness+skills+luck= success in trading. Of course, easier said after the fact, but call it pure luck, or skilled trading or both- I learned to work with the available resources I have. There are times when you can be cynical and say you can lose any day. But you got to be positive and hopeful, otherwise you can just give up and be a loser all your life.

thanks beanie, but hemorrhoids are not really my problem...my problem is that anxiety causes me to become constipated (also known as shy bowel syndrome and various other names).....I either become constipated or have extreme difficulty going to the bathroom if someone is either in the same room, or possibly even in the same house if I think they can hear me.....it's insane, i know, but unfortunately i can't control it. My body tenses up and then I become constipated and/or just cannot go to the bathroom until I am alone..... I used to have difficulty urinating if someone was in the same room, but that problem has gotten better.....the difficulty in defecating however, I don't see it getting better any time soon. Also part of the reason I wish I could trade full-time....because going to work every day really isn't helping my health.....not only is being constipated unconfortable, but I suffer from extreme anxiety KNOWING that I will be constipated......anyone else know someone with this? I'm seriously considering getting some anti-anxiety meds..... sorry for the totally off-topic convo & venting

ONSM: Beanie said previously that we should have taken profits when it got to about 3.60-.70......

SAID BEANIE: every time it gets near 3.75 (like today, Dec 22) you need to sell it, until it ultimately breaks above 3.75. i like ONSM alot but i know it is very short term overbought. Therefore i suggest you take profits near 3.75 and buy back at a lower price (below 3). I don't think it is ready to break above 3.75 just yet. If you don't sell as it approaches 3.75, other traders will!

FFHL is a mess. I would be very careful. The company has a negative working capital, but positive earnings for the past few years. How is that possible?

$30 million dollars in ST loans (think loan sharks 15%+ interest) to be paid soon according to the prospectus.

"As of June 30, 2006, we had negative working capital as represented by net current liabilities of RMB 237.6 million (US$29.7 million) due to outstanding short term bank loans of RMB 240 million (US$30 million) that are due at various times in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the first quarter of 2007."

Considering this was a 30 per share stock before all the problems began may be a good short, intermediate and long term hold.

Beanie et al:
Well I've held on to IMMC expecting a bounce today. It did bounce the other way. It has closed below 3 on a little volume. I'm not down that much, about $400. Part of me says sell, but another voice says this stock is a good candidate for the January effect. May fill the gap to 2.64 or so. Any opinions on this? Thanks.

Hi Jim,
Same thing here- still got 1500 shares of ONSM and losing $800- there goes part of my gains. I waited too long to unload last week. If you can afford to wait for a better price, hold on. But if you want to reduce your capital gain's tax- this is a good opportunity to sell any of your stock for a loss.
You can use the money to buy a better stock . Otherwise just sit tight. I think if the January effect will hold it will bounce up a bit, then sell even close to cost.

I feel personally responsible! You do realize that if you hadn't told me the other day that you never had a down day day trading, this may never have happened! Anyway it is good not to have to suffer alone. As for the tax loss, I think I am doing fine there. Praying for the January effect on stocks like IMMC, NUVO, and Thomas Ko and Beanie's personal favorite, TRMM.

Good luck

You better own an oil well if you are going to follow Beanie! Is there any stock that is not underwater. A quick check back finds very few. And most of his picks were not just short term Recs. But most are now wrecks. Could it be that Beanie alone is profiting when everyone buys and then gets stuck holding the bag?

1) DIVX closed @ 24.96

"Buy the stock at current price or below. Day or swing trade."

OK say I bought 200 shares @ 24.96, It closed at 23.65. I'm down $261
Of course, Cramer is to blame on this one! Of course, he tells us at 11;00 am est to now buy at $23. Sounds like a familiar scenario, remember XNN.

(2) CLWT closed @ 5.16 "Buy the stock at current price or below. Swing trade."

OK say I bought 1000 shares @ 5.16, it closed at $4.83 now I am down $330. That is a total of $561 down.
Beanie at 11:15 AM, "who the heck gapped CLWT up premarket? Don't do that anymore. You ruin the play for the rest of us! lol"
Why are people thanking Beanie today? lol

Now please don't tell me if I had listened to Beanie, I would be fine.

Guys and Gals,
I think some people here still don't get it: Beanie is a day-trader. He get in and out of hot stock of the day or 2. If you buy his recommendation, you must be ready to roll the dice.
If you want a safer bets- you should stay with relatively low-risk, long term holds like AAPL, GOOG, DTV and others. In which case you don't really need Beanie's opinion because this kind of stocks are well research and got plenty of coverage.
The market is really choppy this month, I am sure everyone would have a better time next year when the market recovers.

Anon (guys and gals):
Hey this is fine if he is a daytrader. And I realize that it's a tough time of year. But don't keep saying this is a long to intermediate term play and this is the next TASR and this is the GOOG of Korea and then tell us it is toast two days later re:

1) 10/23 "Exel,(10.27) the next Genentec. Motley thinks EXEL can double in the next year." Now, 9.24

2) 11/9 "GIGM(at 11.02) is the next NTES!" "Rumor has it that Louis Navellier thinks GIGM is the next HANS." Now 9.92

3) 11/21 Marvelous Marvel (MRVL) "It will go much higher once it takes out 23? Now 20.86
4) 12/1 "XNN (at 3.01) is the next TASR!" "Obviously i think the stock will continue to move higher from here for at least the next two weeks." At 3.75. I am excited. I think it is going to 5 tomorrow!. Of course it dumped and and is now 2.48

5) 12/1 Med (13.05) A money manager thinks it could be a 3-5 bagger." Now 11.90

NLST, ONSM DTV?? Most of the November and December picks. Where are they? Most of his past predictions are never heard from again, unless he is pressed for an opinion.
Just my thoughts!
