The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. I have no affiliations with any broker/dealer and all posts are for educational purposes only. GMKT running on G-force!!!!!!

GMKT closed @ $25.93 . Cramer calls GMKT the 'Ebay of Korea'.

Gmarket (GMKT) is a Korean auctions site that is growing at an exponential pace. It is beating Ebay's Korean subsiduary in visitor count even though GMKT only started in 2003. GMKT seems to be an exciting place to do business. Visit their website and you'll know at least what i'm talking about.

I have no doubt that ebay will lose in that country. Ebay is just too restrictive, while GMKT offers everything both sellers and buyers like. For example:

'Gmarket's business model places less emphasis on an open auction format than eBay's. The company offers goods that one can order at fixed prices, with an option to negotiate prices with a seller on an exclusive basis. This allows buyers to conclude deals instantly instead of requiring them to wait until all bids are completed in open auctions. That option is available on eBay as well, but at Gmarket open-bidding auctions account for less than 10% of overall sales volume.'

http://gmarket.tistory.com/7

'One such marketing program is a lottery called "lucky auction." It gives buyers chances to buy everything from LCD televisions to T-shirts at a fraction of the market value. A seller promoting an MP3 player, for example, invites consumers to bid for two of them within a given price range—usually less than 10% of the retail price. Then Gmarket's computer picks two bids at random to decide the winners. Others visitors can buy the MP3 player at a special offer price. The seller attracts consumers, while Gmarket happily hauls in commissions.'

---

That sounds like fun to me!!! lol

GMKT plans to expand into Japan (where Ebay failed miserably) in 2007, and then eventually into the U.S.

Intermediate to longer term play.

Wait for a dip for entry.

Hi Beanie,
Took a day-off today to unload some of my gainers, would be glad to know what would be a good entry point to GMKT.
Appreciate your advice.

I posted this Yesterday on another board. RVBD was stuck at the .618 FIB point on the runup and the top of that 32.52 candle tail on the daily. That would be 32.52 to 32.55. It busted it on volume and took off. It might pull back and the markets are a concern as usual but it looks to want to go higher ultimately to me. Beanie?

Any thoughts on TRMM or is this just another day, another stock? I am concerned about you mentioning stocks and then telling us to sell all our small stocks to buy another one. Please let us know about earlier picks. We are not just day trading, are we?

Thu Dec 21, 11:31:00 AM EST
Blogger gosu said...

keep in mind that small stocks are most volatile and are the biggest percentage movers in day. For this reason, if you believe in a beanie pick and want to buy long term, never buy full portion in one go. So, if you want to buy $5000 worth of GMKT, start with buying only $2500 the first time. This will reduce the risk tremendously.

In my view it is to risky to buy here. when the market gets a correction and it will, GMKT is going down with. I wouldn't buy this because GMKT is moving into Japan. Koreans and Japanese don't get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember that the reason i haven't mentioned much about XNN, ZVUE, RNIN is because those were very profitable positions for us. I assume most of us have already sold for a decent profit (and perhaps riding some free shares). We simply cannot NOT take profits on them because the majority of price increase were due to daytraders driving them up in the short term. Daytraders are a fickle bunch and will move to new momo plays very quickly. They always drive the prices to overbought conditions; so we want to take profits while the momo traders are still around. It doesn't mean the stocks don't have long term potential. You can't fight the mechanics of momentum trading.

Well, I am no expert, but I do not think I am able to trade until my balance is back above 25K. What blows is that I am around 24.7K. Right now I hold around 10K in securites with TRMM being the biggest (so my margin call is really a min. balance call). I am praying that something goes up pretty soon (and the rest dont fall).

What's almost worse than taking a loss.... watching/reading others taking healthy profits when you are forced to sit on the sidelines.

And Merry Christmas to you all.

Still holding DTV. It is like watching paint dry. Should I trade it for another position. I was thinking about TRMM. You said you think this is going to 5 soon. What do you think. I missed the ONSM train. Thanks

This is not an argument. When someone's, who prefers not to name themselves, LAST POST dated Dec. 20 at 11:33 AM and with MBIR selling for .22 tells you to "hold tight onto the shares" then says nothing more while the stock drops almost 50% the next day, he is not doing this board any service. Particularly when he is called on it and then proceeds to tell you he sold it for .23 with the stock now at .12. That, my friend, is a pumper of the worst kind and not what we need here. And he is too cowardly to identify himself!! Enough said.

anonymous,

Regarding XNN, it was a very profitable trade. Remember i told everyone to take at least 1/2 off the table in the high 3's? Had you done that, you would still have an outrageous profitable trade even if XNN came back to 2.50 .

Please read the post entitled 'The Anatomy of The Trade'. Please also read the comments the day before earnings was released.

Beane is right on XNN. Plenty of warning pre-earnings. Personally, I don't think we have heard the last from XNN. It will have a run from this level and soon imho.

TRMM: Looks strong here. Not going down too much in this market today is a good sign. Plus the CEO is excellent when it comes to turning a company around. I promise you he's working on something.....

Happy Holidays everyone. See you next year.

Yes, I am worried, I still have 2k @ 3.24. But that's the chance we take.
If it goes down more, I'll have to keep it for awhile until I get my money back, or until there's a better stock to buy.

wow! What a reversal! I knew it would happen at MAMA (the street.com people were shorting it this morning and they probably couldn't take the heat so a likely hedgefund buddy issued a warning!)

But ONSM took me by surprise! lol

At least some of you folks were smart enough to take at least 1/2 off the table at the high 3's. You rock!

If you were awake, unlike me, you should have sold some especially when it couldn't seem to hold 3.75 on the last try. You could see it in the chart!

The recent press releases regarding new products and partnerships have fundamentally changed the company, imo. It will go higher longer term.

Note there will likely be some share dilution eventually because they gonna need some cash going forward.

Someone just bought 450,000 shares of MPEL ($9 million dollars) in after hours. Amazing.

Per Nasdaq.com:
Time Price Share Volume
16:37 $ 20 300
16:37 $ 20.06 450,000
16:36 $ 20 100

Has anyone seen someone buy so many shares at one time?

Stocky,

unfortunately i still own all of it (ONSM)...lol.. I threw away my discipline of not taking 1/2 off the table. I felt excited about the stock all day but then felt physically tired the last hour. That was one of the most boneheaded moves i've done by not taking 1/2 off before shutting down for a nap.

I keep asking about this stock. IMMC. You don't think that FDA approval of their testing kit is a big deal? JNJ is going to be marketing it,
Seems on a technical level that it is holding 3 pretty pretty well. Don't you think it might make a run at 4 next week? Or would you sell?
Thanks

For those who are bumming out, as Beanie says, the January effect is coming. Stocks sell-off for tax purposes Nov and December and rebound. That should be pretty much completed now. For example, Robert Ko (I believe) the CNBC stock picking champ says TRMM is his number 1 Jan effect pick. Sounds good to me with 1600 shares.
