The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. FFHL:

got slammed the last hour after my recommendation. I am not too worried. I think that just puts off the rally 1 or 2 more days.

Average down if we get a big dip tomorrow.

DIVX goes lower don't buy until it goes to under $22.00, but I would not short it either.

FFHL seems to risky of a stock, especially since the day traders have a hold of it, hard to know if it goes up or down. I would stay away.

Look for a rebound in CHA or CHL late in the afternoon.

i've been following your blog for months & i've seen your long-term recommendations

i'm looking to buy into 3-4 stocks & hold them long-term (12-18 months); then end up with something like 15-20% of my portfolio in each of these stocks

which ones are the best out of these:

AKAM
GOOG
AAPL
DTV
GIGM
NYX
MA

i'm not limiting myself to the above, so if you like another one not listed, i'm all ears

Oh wow. What an uneventful day, except for FORG, BRLC and NYX.

NYX i got hit this morning. I felt it was going to happen like it did premarket, gapping to 98 and then corrected back to 96. If you followed procedure that i recommended, you would have shorted NYX above 97 and covered at about 99.18 (the first 30 minutes high) for a lost of about 2.18. Nowhere did i say to hold that NYX throughout the day. I knew it would be strong but i also had a feeling the market was going down today. A new high established after the first 30 minutes of trading showed ya how strong NYX could be throughout the day.

Van_G,

if you can buy the stock(s) at the support levels, more power (and profits) to you. But we don't always get that opportunity because a stock could go on rip roaring higher without seeing the support that we want to see . It could just fly much higher and eventually get to a HIGHER support level. (That will make ya mad as hell because you waited for weeks to months for it to come down to, let's say, the 50dayMA and when it does come down, the 50dayMA already increased significantly! lol)

Playing the "support" game is for the purely technical traders. Alot of the times when the traders do that, they just end up buying other types of stocks (that are at support level) that the fundamentals trader might have no interest in. You know what i'm talkin about? For example, let's take the chart of NYX on november 6, 2005 when it was trading at $82. Ok, we missed the support level near the 50dayMA (low $70's). Let's say we wanted to wait for it to get back to that 50dayMA level. It never did and proceeded to rally to 112. It finally got back to the 50dayMA several days ago at $92. That's still higher than the november 6 price!

Why not play it this way:

We buy on november 6,2006 at $82 knowing that it could see the low $70's (btw, we would ADD to our position if it does get to that level). NYX rips to above $100, which by all indicators were overextended. No reason we couldn't sell 1/2 above $100 and wait for the stock to get back to the new 50dayMA at $92 and put back that 1/2 position. Jim Cramer does that too. So you better believe it works.

Fri Jan 05, 08:31:00 PM EST
Blogger beanie11111 said...

Van_G,

Very few people can actually hold on to their cash for months and wait till the stock they like to reach support levels. More likely than not, you will end up putting cash into another stock at support level (in fact, you will always find stocks that are trading at support levels), which may not be your favorite stock at all.

So i say, dive in now with a 1/2 position to be safe and put in the other 1/2 position on any dip or a dip to support levels.

Who the H is Beanie11111? He is the worst stock picker I have ever seen. Just two examples today. TRMM back up the truck and buy it. XNN going to 10. PROBLEM. Both get going concern notices today and will tank Monday. I have researched all his REKS and they are a total disaster with only a few exceptions. Who are you idiots who listen to him? Throw darts and you will do much better. Beanie11111 is a pumper who plays off his recs to you and then dumps leaving you with losses and no more comments. Smarten up and recognize you have been had time and time again. Now those of you holding TRMM and XNN ask Beanie boy what you should do. Like he really cares cause he is long gone. Just like every one of his "buys". If you disagree with me prove that even half his recommendations are profitable--you can't because they aren't. He is worse than most letter writers and they are pretty bad.

I mentioned it first on this board but if you bought it when I mentioned it, you would still be up. Keep in mind that these two stocks are speculative. It takes time and you must have patience to get the reward. Now that doesn't mean you can't lose money.
XNN: I guess your upset because of the PR that came out at 5pm. First of all nobody really knows when something bad is coming out and second, this is old news......If you would have done your research you would of known this. It probaly will go down on Monday (I HOPE) but the sellers won't be the smart investors. The Smart investors will be waiting to scoop up every share on monday. Look at the After Hour Market....Looks like bad news LOL

Fri Jan 05, 11:42:00 PM EST
Blogger beanie11111 said...

Brett (and everybody who owns TRMM or XNN),

This kind of stuff ("going concern") happens to almost all microcaps. That's already a given. All microcaps, they either have to start making money and reduce debt eventually or they gonna sink. That is the nature of these kinds of speculative plays.

I am very aware of the possibility of bankruptcy on speculative microcap plays. Most often times, it is likely they get kicked off to garbageland otcbb or pinks rather than bankruptcy. I contend that 99% of all otcbb/pinks have an "ongoing concern".

Other than owning the free shares of XNN, i would not add right now until it gets some type of press release that lets me know that the stock is likely going higher.

TRMM is all about wait and see. Comin out from the bottom at $1, it's short term overbought (too bad for us it didn't go higher when we bought it). For 2 weeks, this stock closed above $2 but yesterday it finally closed below $2 and today it retested that barrier and failed. Chartwise, the stock is likely headed lower in the immediate term. The mid $1 should offer decent support.

TRMM: i bought this for the january rally. It looks like the stock didn't rally with the other stocks. Perhaps it was because it ALREADY rallied in anticipation of the January Effects!!! lol. That being the case, i would sell when nothing happened to this stock the last 3 days.

Still, for those still holding TRMM for the longer term, i don't think all is lost. I mean, this stock is near the bottom. It either makes it as a business and stock prices resumes. Or it gets banished to the land of otcbb. I personally think TRMM will be ok.

MED:

-------
"Medifast's Executive Ranks Thin
By NEIL A. MARTIN

WEIGHT-LOSS PRODUCTS MAKER Medifast announced Friday that CEO Bradley T. MacDonald was stepping down under a "succession plan" that would let him focus on its future business development, rather than day-to-day activities.

The announcement came as the Owings Mills, Md., company (ticker:MED) confronts a number of issues that Barron's has recently uncovered.

One is the rejection last September by Diabetes Care, the respected journal of the American Diabetes Association, of a Johns Hopkins study on the effectiveness of the Medifast dietary regimen in helping diabetics. That study has been a bedrock of the company's marketing effort and a contributor to the rise in its stock since mid-2005. The rejection, which Medifast hasn't disclosed publicly, came after a peer review by weight-loss experts. The publication declined to explain its reasoning.

More recently, Barron's has learned, Medifast's board has become concerned about Internet postings, under the name bradmed@verizon.net, in support of Medifast on the Yahoo! Finance message board. People in a position to know say that this is a pseudonym and that MacDonald was the author of these messages.

When Barron's asked the former Marine colonel, who is remaining with the company as an adviser and executive chairman of its board, whether he was "bradmed," he denied it. "There are a lot of Brads out there," he said, and "I don't make a practice of that."

But, according to knowledgeable people, company directors reprimanded MacDonald in mid-December after learning of a Barron's inquiry into the postings, and told him to stop posting messages, fearing, among other things, that this could violate "fair disclosure" regulations.

Medifast shares declined 6% to 11.60 on Friday following disclosure of MacDonald's planned departure....."
--------

My only worries about Medifast have always been that if the scientific studies showed that Medifast diet plan is good for reducing diabetes, then how are the drug companies gonna make their billions every year for diabetic drugs???

The "scientific panels" (which for the most part SUPPORTS drug companies over companies that offer natural cures, in my opinion) will most likely reject the John Hopkins studies that favored the Medifast system. It doesn't even matter how impeccably well done the studies were, the panels will likely reject them and make up reasons why they couldn't accept the studies. Just my educated opinion.

That, my friends, is the evil side of capitalism.

MED: I brought this (Medifast dietary regimen in helping diabetics) to peoples attention as I was in MED with 100 shares @20.00, the news came out that the origional study group to see how its products would benifit diabetics fell apart. The stock eventually crashed to 6 and I got back in long enough to regain my lose.

Navellier recently touted this, again, in his recent news letter solicitation without mentioning MED specifically, as a buying point and I kept wondering where is the proof. I again brought this (MED past unsubstantiated hype) to our groups attention. I have serious doubts about this guy Navellier) and this companys (MED) integrity.

You know I am down $3000 and all you did was say don't worry and wait and see. Well we have waited and seen and here we rest. I take responsibility for my own bad choices, but a note of caution to anyone. Beware of Beanie's picks. They are very risky and he is a daytrader. If you have the time could you give me your thoughts about ONT using TA .. this is what I posted on Thursday .. not sure if I want to wait for that break of $1.48 due to overbought conditions. Debating if I should sell Monday morning. Below is the comment that i wrote on Thursday .. BTW I am in at $1.14. I tend to take profits way way too earlier like FORG .. still kicking myself for taking 3/4 off. Oh well. Appreciate any comments. If anyone else has some input I would appreciate this.

ONT I just read some are interested in this one .. mostly I trade base on TA and if you can get a dip buy low $1.20's would be a safe buy since $1.19 is current support .. must hold $1.19 for now .. next BIG resistance is $1.48 ... this is a longer swing for me but will likely take 1/2 off if this gets anywhere in the $1.40 area.

There has been a lot of frustrated traders here and you really need to analyze your trading closely.

Beanie plays momo stocks for the most part and if one buys then you better sell. These stocks are the ones daytraders like myself will monitor during the day for quick profits.

When I see one of those momo plays, I quickly look at the historical chart and determine overbought and oversold conditions If it's coming from oversold conditions the price should continue to run.

Another way is to trade them using INTRADAY oversold conditions .. catch the dips and sell for a quick profit .. 2%-5% is not too bad. Quick in and Quick out.

Another way (which is my favorite and requires some patience) is wait for consolidation using support levels. You need to use a tighter stop just under support price. If support is broken then loss is minimal. Many times after consolidation the price will trend up again and will past the high of previous run .. Look at DKAM a good example of run up, consolidation and taking out previous high. I love it .. you are already in and now daytraders are pushing the price higher and hopefully you are selling when daytraders are buying.

Trading is all about money mangement along with risk exposure.

AHHHH I am rambling again so I hope some of this make makes sense but use the momo stocks to your advantage and don't get stuck being a bagholder.

Good Luck next week

Look at the chart and you can see many were close to the resistance area when they started to run and looked "toppy"

ONSM resist $3.50's
TRMM resist $2.50's
IFON resist $5.80's

if you bought when they were running you should have at least sold some to lock in profits.

BTW ONSM is coming up consolidation and should be watched.

NYX .. this one should not have been a short .. price sitting at support $90 and very close to LRC .. one should have bought on first sign of reversal with a stop under $90.

This was only a short when $90 area was taken out again use support area to determine if one needs to go long or short.

It was too early to short this one and I am puzzled but it .. it may go down next week but wait till you see which way the trend is going using the support levels

Money/risk management: you got to hone your skills. I have a feeling, some people here take advice from beanie, more out of desperation than inspiration. If anyone is losing too much money, step back and rethink your strategy and goals. Maybe a break can restore your luck.

Hi everybody,

If you are still bagholders of tiny caps like XNN (when most of us made over 75% on it from 2.63 to $4.00) then what that means is you need to stick to the bigger stocks. I give out at least 2 big stocks every week and most are actually profitable and does not require you to get out quickly. Even if you had an arthritic condition, you will do ok with the bigger stocks. (I think i made a big mistake with FFHL though, and hopefully can redeem myself on that stock next week. Yikes!)

Remember that the official recommendations are the real picks. Anything else made in the comments section, you have to treat it as a daytrade and you better be fast.

"If you are still bagholders of tiny caps like XNN....." Are you talking about the, "Next TASR?" What was that all about? What tiny caps are youy talking about? Please let us know? Please be specific. Both XNN and TRMM were your offical picks, remember. So were other small caps! Could you tell us which small caps you are referring to? Should we still back up the truck on TRMM and XNN? Is XNN going to 6 again?
You know you talk about herbal medicine and the universal consciousness! To me it seems like self-serving bullshit! You know people have lost a lot of money and all you do is blame them for being foolish and not listening to your wisdom! What a bunch of crap!

anonymous,

I cannot comment on XNN anymore if you bought it at $4 (in which case you would be a bagholder for the time being) when the rest of us bought it at 2.65 and sold some for a huge profit at $4. I still believe XNN has TASR-potential. But it may require some patience. So far, the selloff has been based on technicals only. The stock went up from $1 to $4 in a period of two weeks. To ask the market for more in such a short period of time would be too much, unless there was a huge contract announced. Naturally, a correction is expected.

Those who bought at $2.63 gain a potentially large amount of free shares or huge profits in less than 2 weeks time, before the stock corrected.

Yes, i believe that in time XNN will see $6, just not tomorrow.

Contrary to the opinion of those who bought XNN at $4, the recommendation was a huge success for most of us. As much as i wanted the stock to go to $10 immediately, other daytraders don't necessarily feel the same way yet and they act accordingly.

So i am not sure why all the complaints about XNN. I even explained exactly what to do the day of earnings. The instructions were crystal clear. I've never been clearer about when to sell a stock as i was with XNN. At least that's the way i remembered it.

But not to worry. I think XNN should be ok. It should perk up as next earnings gets closer.

Also, there will be more other great plays in the future! :)

Jim,

both SOFO and NUVO are ok. I still like them. If i don't like them anymore i will let you know.

NUVO: one month isn't even up yet and the stock is still at neutral (around $4) I have already said that this will take several months before anything would happen. But if we get near one month and the stock is still around $4, and you're tire of it, you can sell it for nearly breakeven and move on. I am not negative on this stock and believe it will have its day eventually. Remember not to put too much money in small stocks, as i've constantly tried to hammer home.

SOFO: I still like this stock alot. The stock got hit on a secondary offering. It'll perk up again.

When i use the term "bagholders of small stocks" what i meant is those who bought in later than the rest of us (we daytraders will take some of the table especially when the profits are decently large) and expects immediate profits. The best example to use is XNN. It was called at $2.63 and i even tell everyone to take at least 1/2 off the table at around $4. The reason why we do this is all explained in 'Anatomy of The Trade'.

Seriously, some of you still constantly ask me about XNN it means you either don't have patience or you like to buy things when the price has ran up significantly (and not know how to sell when the stock corrects).

If you're an investor, you should give it some time and let the story play out. Or if you're someone who wants instant profits (in which case, you're a daytrader or swingtrader) then you need to sell quickly if the stock goes against you. YOU HAVE TO DECIDE WHY YOU BOUGHT THE STOCK IN THE FIRST PLACE - is it for investing for a few months to a year or longer, or is it to get quick profits???

My goal is to try to get you folks quick profits so that you can invest some of the profits (free shares) for the longer term and be able to sleep like a baby without worry. Obviously, i can't always do that, and your buys can turn into a lost quickly.

Even so, you still have to decide in the first place whether you're willing to keep the stock for a few months even before you purchase the stock.

I highly recommend you all go back and read the post on 'The Anatomy of The Trade', whether you're an investor or you want quick profits.

If you like quick profits, you must also be willing to take the losses quickly and move on!!!! To succeed, there is no way around that!!! You cannot be looking for quick profits, yet decide to hold for the longer term when the stock turns against you. NO NO NO and NO!!!! Because if you do this long enough, you WILL run out of money.

So you need to decide right now why you buy a stock in the first place - quick profits or for a longer term investment? I personally like quick profits (and "invest" the free shares if i wanted to) and take quick losses.

SOFO: the fundamentals have not changed at all. In fact, i think the stock offering makes the company financially stronger. The selling is actually from an overbought condition. I am not worried.

Beanie,
I am glad you took the pains of explaining and reiterating some of the basic concept and principles of trading and investing. I cannot make it plain any better than you. That is why over the course of my post, I can only state my own investing goals and strategy: that I am an 80% long term and only 20% day/swing trader.
I still hold RVBD, DIVX, SMSI as my long term holds. For short-term- ZVUE,ONSM,SOFO and FFHL. I'm losing 10% on my short term holdings so far but still over 25% gains on my long term holdings. I am posting this as a good example of a portfolio with a clear plan for a long term investment but still able to take advantage of aggressively managing my holdings by doing day/swing trade whenever there is opportunity to do so. And on occasion, I do sometimes get too excited by your picks and would buy too many shares. Losses, usually will "sober" me up and get me back to my chosen path of investment goals.
I usually do my my DD on all your picks, and I'd only will buy very few or none at all. I never like NUVO, TRMM, IFON and XNN. But I did buy XNN and got out in time and did get a modest gain. I did get over my head over ONSM only sold half of my original day-trade purchase of 4000 shares. I am still trying to unload some 1500 shares, because I am unwilling to take that much lost and
hopeful it will still go up. And patience sometimes can be rewarded. ONSM closed friday near $3.
I am really glad that we have a very frank discussion on this board, it has been very rewarding for me both in money and experience. I am still learning a lot from you and the others. KP,GOSU,JSPADE not posting relavant news but also helpful tips on trading.
I hope people here who have lost money can find their way back to "greener" pastures like I did. Good Luck to all of us!

I would love to see Beanie say I sold at this or that price instead of BUY BUY BUY with rediculous price targets. It helps some of the newbies if there were more analysis then purely BUY BUY BUY and XNN will see $12!!!

I like KP's comments due to support/resist levels. Did you all see her post on Thursday regarding ONT and FORG?

ONT buy low $1.20's strong resist $1.48 with a stop under $1.19.

FORG buy under $1.40 then suppport $1.50 stop under $1.37. I bought this a bit high and was losing a little but I remembered that $1.50 area she mentioned and held it. Glad I did nice profit now and will not sell until it starts to breakdown.

This is the detail I am talking about that Beanie needs to make clear. I never hear that he is going to sell until the bagholders are questioning his picks. I have no idea what he is holding.

I agree with Anonymous in so far as the price levels at which stops and sells should be placed. That will definitely help everyone make better decisions and learn in the process.

Beanie, hanksfor all your advice. I believe you truly are trying to help people. You will always have those who do not listen carefully. Now, I would ask this for your investors who follow you: How do I invest my 10000 dollars to start the 2007 year? Let's track its progress by the end of the year. Thanks for all your help, Scott PS Should we have one good china big stock long term?
