Red Alert! August Correction?
As expected, MA got hit this morning. When a market looks really bad, they tend to take down stocks during earnings regardless of what they say.
Yesterday, the selling was pervasive from start to finish. But we are due for an oversold bounce.
August is typically a bad month for stocks. I suggest you don't put too much money in the market for the time being.
You might want to look at EMC if you just can't be out of the market.

Note that since they took out the best of breed FSLR , they're gonna take down all the solars. I suggest selling on a bounce and short 1/2 your original position. If you, for instance, got 500 shares of TSL, i want you to sell it and then go around and short 250 shares of TSL. We'll get back in once the carnage is done.

the earnings was very spectacular. They beat by 10 cents, excluding items. Including items, they beat by 52 cents.
Piper just upgraded FSLR to 115 from 75
if the QQQQ's can get above 48 i think we will be ok.

Bill, I'm not making light of your situation - but I joined this site last August, and you were down then, too. And look what a great year you had. earnings out for NCNC in about 2 weeks. earnings should be better than Q1 as the big announced orders were completed in Q2. Expect an update on the new joint venture with earnings. Get in now in the .50's. Won't see them again any time soon.

this will come as a shock, but I'm getting nailed again today....looks like should have sold all on that bounce instead of partials. just getting destroyed. as I said before as low as I get personally and professionally here. by far worst two weeks financially for me ever.
I'm going to ponder whether I'll continue with this endeavor. I don't know what the answer will be.

Any company that requires borrowed funds in order to operate, and that includes those who require their customers to borrow, such as FWLT, FLR, SPWR, FSLR, etc., may have a tough market for a while.

You are forgetting one key factor that doesn't show up on any charts: I own SBUX stock.

Aug 1st didn’t go exactly as planned. The market ignored the ISM report, today. So, ISM gets credit tomorrow. The market cannot ignore the employment numbers. Look for the market to go up ahead of Fri’s blow out employment report.
Look for stocks to be up tomorrow and fri, then merger Monday, up some more.

That was a fascinating ending!! The closing minutes chart on AAPL was huge buy followed by buy buy buy before a little sell at the close. I guess I sold the GS a bit too early, but like i said above, when i sell from too much pain... thats your buy signal...

Not for bragging rights, but I had a huge week this week during the carnage. It just taught me the importance of the right picks and doing a lot of analysis before you leap. I made money on UA, TRMB, DWA, and right now I am in DLB, GPRO & COGT.
And I bet on options on NYX for tomorrow, hope that turns out well too. What you guys think of NYX earnings ?
Lesson is you can buy the earning plays, but be careful with the sector and be mindful over the huge runs and valuations like FSLR.

These people who keeps posting recriminations and nasty comments are in need of help. If anyone wants to be "validated" or anyone seeking for approval, this is not the place. And again, Beanie is not always right, accept or reject his opinion if you must. If you have a contrary opinion, post it and argue in civilized manner. I made a lot of money this year on AAPL, RVBD, VLO, HANS, BRLC and I could have shared my research but I decided otherwise. Sure Beanie can be wrong, but he sometimes confirmed my own analysis and gave me a new perspective on investment strategy. If anyone is really wise enough, then you should stop reading this blog. Most of the things I know, was learned from other people. Unless you can figure it out by yourself then you should not be reading this blog or any other sites.

Anon, how do u come up with 22%, let me guess, u added up the percentage.., did u ever take math in elementary school. How can u add up percentage while the principal amount is different. The correct amount is actually somewhere in the -9% range, provided you bought 1 share of each. It isn't that bad considering the market. Nobody can tell the future really.
