The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns.
I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. I think I will buy USO coz I believe its going to hit 80. Currently trading at 52.
Ofcourse, if oil hits 100, the best bets are also alternate energy stocks Beanie has been pumping here.
Beanie,
Thanks for advising us to go for alternate energy stocks. However converting solar energy into electricity is very expensive and it cannot even run my house. I think there is too much hype in those solar companies like ASTI. Alternate energy like ethanol and nuclear is the way to go. So I think these stocks will not hold their prices in the long run. Anyway let make the most of it now.
Why don't we go nuclear in this country? The oil industry has too much power and our politicians are corrupt. Why is there no incentive from the govt to buy small cars?
Lazio
Lazio its because of the OIL lobby, can't really add much to that. you summed it up pretty well by adding the term 'corrupt'.
Here’s link...

Victory! Million Solar Roofs Bill Signed Into LawAfter three years, the Million Solar Roofs bill, SB 1, authored by Senator Kevin Murray, was signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger at a ceremony held at the new solar powered CalTrans building in downtown Los Angeles.........
This alone represents $10 billion dollar order...over 10 years...
zee, what do you think of JASO, do you think it will bounce back up from here. seems to have done this 16.5 - 20 thing twice now.
I think I came up with a very compelling argument for buying AMGN..(at zero risk)...check out my site...for details...
zzz
Hmm...whats Chinese markets doing, Up 3%
I bought some DOW futures at 12400.
JASO eps news blackout....nothing on earnings...therefore nothing on eps trend... will assume eps trend is up....CHART..NO new pattern......15 is probably yearly low....looks like holds support at 16.xx..
GOSU what do you think this might be a good time to buy indian ADR's. they've been beaten down a lot since FEB (for a longer term 3-6 month hold, the new financial yr starts Apr 1st so year end results of all these companies should be coming out next month).
DOW FUTURES up 31...

JADE looking ready to make a big move (most likely to the upside)
want to see a stock that has gone up at a slope of 30 degree. check out FT lol, not much price appreciation but man for 11 months this has been going up. very low volume, use the 40 dma (simple jake) to get the base.
Guys, what do you think on BBY(BestBuy) - they are about to announce 4Q earnings next week. Will they repeat the success of RSH and GME ? I loaded some.
Dimitry
Ok. SOLD Dow futures at 12426.
Alok,
I don't think this is the best time to buy Indian ADRs. The action in market leaders IBN, INFY is not very convincing. The best time to buy I think will be,
1) They are really badly beaten down.
2) They start to move back up out of that range then.
I personally don't buy for long term based on Financial calender or that they are down from their 52 week highs. I had several friends who got burnt loading up on past blockbuster stocks like Nortel, Cisco, Sun etc. in 2001, just because they were off their best levels.
I have to see decent action in Nasdaq to be able to get interested in Indian ADRs for the long term. If Nasdaq ain't going anywhere, the Indian ADRs are not going anywhere.
Until then, I am day trading these puppies.
Morning Board,
Still holding CMGI hopeing it may pop this am...then move on. Friday, the market is closed, yes?
GOSU, did you see Ryan Seacrest with his Mohawk on last nite?
Man, talanted peo. are getting the boot and this guy is soooooooooooooooo terrible, ugh.
Pamfla
It's a George Bush conspiracy along with Dick his VP.
LOL Pamfla. This is so funny.
KRY is flyin
No doubt NYX is on its way to new highs.
Man, don't be buying premarket.
Dollar rises after better-than-expected GDP
By Wanfeng Zhou
Last Update: 8:38 AM ET Mar 29, 2007
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- The dollar extended gains against the yen and pared losses versus the euro early Thursday after a Commerce Department report showed the U.S. economy grew at a faster pace than initially reported in the fourth-quarter.
The dollar was up 0.6% at 117.67 yen.
The economy grew at a 2.5% annual pace in the final three months of 2006, slightly faster than the previous estimate of 2.2%.
Economists were expecting the 2.2% estimate to be unrevised. Separately, seasonally adjusted initial claims fell by 10,000 to 308,000. "The stage now could be set for some follow through dollar buying, as overall, the speculative market is thought to be positioned on the short side of the ledger," said analysts at research firm Action Economics.
ICE:
I think it's close to the bottom enough that you can start nibbling some for a longer term hold.
Wallst. knows the drill... yen down, market up.
Hold off on GMKT and SPWR today until they retest... they are both right on fib levels and can go either way.
Keep an eye on QQQ 43.25 or so... below that it's shortable.
SPX at 2407.5 or so...
Watch TGEN go!!
Buy (or sell) JADE on a test of 9.45.
Beanie, has your DNDN been halted???!!
IWM (Russell 2000 index) hit it's 61.8% fib retracement line almost to the penny (79.76) on its opening high, and is now falling back. 50% fib line is 78.96, which it bounced off of many times yesterday, if you remember.
JakeGint, if I may ask, what software do you use for fib calculations?
GS 50% fib line right at 206.50, where it stopped yesterday. Now struggling in a no-man's land at 208 ish, but I'd wait since it's still in oversold territory. Doesn't look "well" though.
Gosu, fib calcs are very easy to do by hand. Do you not know the formula?
anon,
DNDN halted pending fda decision today
79.39 ish looks like make or break for IWM, and maybe the rest of the market, at least for the short term.
KRY:
a good buy. Going higher intermediate term
I do know them, but I would like something that does real time fib calculations.
I came across this...http://nss-t3.com/
but this software is damn expensive.
$46.10 is first fib (78.6%) for SPWR. I believe it will at least hit this one again before moving on to retest the $48 100% retracement line. I may be wrong, but I would wait to be safe here.
Oh, I forgot you are mostly a daytrader. Sorry.
Gose: I just use the built-in on my OPEx account. I think they get it from Knight's Prophet.com.
I am eyeballing a lot of these, but fibs are never 100% accurate anyway, so that's why I say "ish" on some of them.
I think that if you have changed your bias towards the bear (and for me at least, that bias can change on a dime), you almost have to be more short term oriented.
Guys I bought a little TGEN earlier in the day. Not sure if I should hold it overnight, its moved so much, any thoughts.
very strong mkt today. I bought JASO, DSTI and TGEN and all are still going up. I hope everyone else is having the same luck.
Do any of you folks happen to play the opening gaps, e.g., AAPL? I have done this successfully on AAPL for several years. If any of you do so, what other "trading stocks" do you find responsive? Thanks.
BOOM busted through it's 61.8% fib retrace (33.28). Looks good to buy here.. watch that number for break back down, and 34.35 (78.6% fib) for continuing up....
Redid the BOOM fibs... sorry, did not get the bottom right... 61.8% line is closer to 33.16 than 33.28.
BOOM opened at 33.18, and I think is good while it stays above that level.
jake - would would teach me about fibs? its a real blind spot in my skills. where do you start and finish the fan?
here we go again...
Interesting to note that "the plunge protection team" watches those fibs too. For a lesson, check out the huge buy volume spike as IWM tested it's 50% fib, right around 12 o'clock today.
Seriously, this is just traders covering at the fib line, but it's still pretty cool to see it work...
BTW-- it looks like even that might be good for only a small cat bounce... looks like IWM Rut-rohs are going lower.... watch for break of the 78.90 area...
Boom,
I don't mess with the fans, as I'm not quite sure how they work (although I'm told they do). I just do a retracement from a specific high to low, or vice versa. You can really do them at any point on a chart (and it's amazing how they will work in almost any time increments!), but I like to use them on a sixty day chart, and look for recent take offs or plunges that have each begun to work themselves back (in either direction).
In the case of BOOM, I'm using the 2/23 top as the top of my measure and the 3/14 second bottom touch as my low point. It' arguable that you can use the first low, but it's so similar to the second, and I like use the farthest trough point from the high to eliminate "noise."
Boom, I just realized I can email you the chart if you want to have a look see... let me know your email addy if you want it.
Jake can you mail it to me too, desihoon_75@yahoo.com
TIA!
You should have it, Alok.
jake - email it at boomblog@gmail.com thanks.
USBE:
Alternative energy play that is trading just above the 50dayMA. Recently upgraded. Earnings tomorrow.
You got the gonads?
TGEN is a buy for a swingtrade
4.05
beanie Swing or day trade on TGEN?
wow, the congresswoman Schwartz is hot!
lol
alok,
day or swing. You gotta pay attention to it though. I mean watching it like a hawk.
TGEN will see 6 is my opinion
OH great, I got in at 3.5 earlier in the morning and sold it at 3.96. later i saw that it had topped at 3.98 so i was feeling glad with myself. now the darn thing has crossed 4, and Beanie say's it will go to 6 (so it most likely will) hahaha i can just never win.
Jake, thank for send it buddy, I'll check my mail after work and get back with you.

I think I will buy USO coz I believe its going to hit 80. Currently trading at 52.
Please don't tell me that I did not tell you.
How many of you think that crude oil will not hit its all time high of 78 next month?
Look at the volume on USO.
AVG. VOLUME - 2.9 MIL
VOL. TODAY - 5.2 MIL.
anon without I D ..please leave a letter...or initials..thanx..
I buy and hold...
Boom,
Sent the chart to you. Still hanging in there....
__________
I hope folks took advantage of the IWM break of 7.90.
Gotta run out... beware the break of 1407.5 on the SPX... Should bounce there, but if not...
Bears spreading rumors about Iran again. Same thing last year.
TGEN:
dont wait any longer! Get in!
TGEN will most likely gap up huge the next session. That's where you might want to take some off the table.

No way there are rumors. Iran attack is going to happen.
TGEN:
it will gap higher, AS LONG AS it gets a good close.
Watch it.
I gotta go now....
see ya tomorrow
gosu..
all cash, except for qqqq puts....market looks spooky....
gosu,
I guess mr. Bush can go attack iran like he did with iraq. That means no chance of republican president in 2008, or ever.
Day traders dream. We will probably close in the green. Not decided yet on the QQQQ puts. Think we will go sideways for a while, and then drop below 12000.
-GK
I think beanie knows what he is talking about gosu. You would be wise to listen.
Qqqq puts are defensive in case..iran does some more stupid stuff...and oil climbs even higher tomorrow...+ consumer spending fri report negative....bearish....
Brit population has blair's hands tied...otherwise blair would attack...
Any opionin on ICE and NYX.
I want to buy some call options on oil. But USO and OIL don't have options. I want something pure oil. OIH is ok but is not quite what I am looking for. Any feedback is really appreciated.
For srini's question, I think these exchanges like ICE, NYX, and ISE ... will post record for the month of March. Therefore, I am expecting them to go up next week.
A.
Iran attack will not be a ground invasion. Only air and submarine attacks. Something like what we did in the Yugoslavia.
I am getting anxiety!!
Anyway, I have moved some of my money into VLO and OIH. I think the tension with Iran will not be solved quickly. Hence, oil will keep going up from here IMHO.
A.
Gosu your crazy. nothing is going to happen in Iran. Iran knows it cannot afford being invaded. Besides last time US stood alone when it invaded Iraq, this time the whole world is against Iran. so i feel it will cave, its just a matter of time. i'm sure they will apply some additional stringent financial santions against Iran before even considering an attack.
this is all a ploy by the bears to depress the mkt so that they can cover :) hahahaa nothing was stopping the bulls. i mean think about it, why did oil go up, it wasnt doing anything until the rumor started. this was a very cheap tactic and i hope they find the person who started the rumor.
Austin why would you buy oil when its at 66?
I'm with you on ASTI but cant quite figure this one. its already moved so much.
shorted CHAP....STQ target 504...stq...target met....
chap target met 58 / 59 ...
ETEL - got an e-mail from a reliable source that the HBG going to mention this one tonight on tv. no clue if true or not, just passing along...;)
I think higher oil tomorrow.....hurts XLE stocks....and market in general....
Alok, I still have ASTI and wait for it to pass at least $10. I reduced half of my FSLR to move to SPWR yesterday. Still holding on ISE (green today) and ONXX (red today).
Talking about oil, it was at $78 a barrel in July 2006. It is possible for oil to go back to that level with the high tension in Iran. I do think that oil will go pass $70 a barrel very soon and will keep going up when the summer driving season and the hurricane season are coming. Therefore, I have picked up some May calls for VLO and OIH.
A.
I agree w zee, higher oil will hurt everybody. i just have a feeling that oil will be heading lower from here. no fundamental catalyst and i feel iran issue will cool down. there will be a lot of words before the final cooling, that guys Ahmadinzzzzaaaaaddd loves to talk.
repeating above statement...sounds like I meant longterm...
I think higher oil tomorrow.....hurts XLE stocks..tomorrow.....and market in general...tomorrow...so buy XLE on the dip...Tomorrow.....
200 day just within grasp...of oil..bulls
oil has more problems than just iran.....heating oil shortages...gasoline production shortages....NOAA....active hurricane season.....
DNDN got fda approval. gonna bust one tomorrow.
Wow CEGE is moving up with DNDN news.
A.
How are the indexes positive,
at leat every one of stocks we have discussed on this board were
lowerthan yesterday
You're kidding right Boomer? Did you actually read the news? This is not the best possible scenario for Dendreon.
"Banc of America analyst William Ho thinks the FDA's most likely to issue an approvable letter, essentially a request for additional information before a final evaluation is made, for Provenge.
"With controversial data and a large, Phase III IMPACT trial ongoing, we believe the FDA will wait for confirmatory data prior to approval," he wrote in a research note after the FDA's documents were posted. "We expect that Dendreon will require additional capital later this year."
ANON, I agree with you for a change. most of the stocks in my watch list are negative today.
i hope we have a better day tomorrow.
Still holding FSLR. The stock seems to be in free fall. any ideas
where the bottom would be --
Anon, FSLR should find some support at 52.7, lets hope it does not break 50.23.
Alok said...
Austin why would you buy oil when its at 66?
1) Because it is going to 80 in no time.
2) Because Bush and Cheney are still president and VP.
3) Iran war is just round the corner.
.strong sectors going forward are going to be tech bio drugs...bernanke mentioned bearish...consumer...so health insurance, retail, consumer goods stocks weak ...going forward...
Ice...If CME makes higher offer....BOT goes to 205......CME goes down to $350 / $450...Ice goes down to $90....so Beannie says nibble...cause higher offer from CME, possible...don’t know when..I’m buying BOT tommorrow...up or down...
DNDN:
congrats if you were brave and held onto the stock!
Playing the solar stocks:
It's better to be in both thin film and polysilicon than just one. You never know if silicon prices go down hard (not likely).
silicon: SPWR, STP, TSL
thin film: FSLR & Nanosolar (if it goes ipo is a must buy!)
Beaz, What about JASO?
There is absolutely no way that the war with Iran in not happening.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17862888/site/newsweek/page/2/
And now the British leader, who reportedly told Bush months ago that he opposed war with Iran, may have little choice but to back one.
Revolutionary fervor still prevails in both capitals—inside Iran, to spread jihadism; inside the Bush administration, to sow the sort of regime change that will end this jihadism.
Gosu, there is absolutely no way that the war will happen. If it does, Bush will induce a global recession. Anyway good posts, whatever happens next few days will be very interesting.
Beanz what do you think of JASO, I'm already in it. TIA.
Please read this
But then again you'd be missing the grim fatalism that has settled over Iran of late, the resigned belief that a war with the U.S. is all but inevitable. This week Iranian diplomats are telling interlocutors that, yes, they realize seizing the Brits could lead to a hot war. But, they point out, it wasn't Iran that started taking hostages — it was the U.S., when it arrested five members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Erbil in Northern Iraq on January 11. They are diplomats, the Iranians insist. They were in Erbil with the approval of the Kurds and therefore, they argue, are under the protection of the Vienna Convention.
This is funny.
I called up an Arab Gulf security official and asked him what he thought about it all. He said the view from his side of the Gulf is that if Iran does not soon release the Brits, a war between the U.S. and Iran is in the cards. "I for one am taking all the cash I can out of my ATM," he said before hanging up.
beannie..(not likely) is right.!!!!...
how can polysilicon prices drop, when there are such shortages...(next two to five years)..???
gosu, I'm rooting for you...I personally, would rather suffer through a recession, than listen to those, "(enslave the world, squash freedom / democracy...types)"
Oh come on zee, those are not good enough reasons for a war. i was happy when US invaded iraq cause i wanted the same thing, fall of saddam, get a mad man out. now look what has happened to iraq.
btw here is a blog of an iraqi woman living in iraq. very interesting read.
http://www.riverbendblog.blogspot.com/
is NTRI in anybody's watchlist. it seems to be gaining strength.
Have you been watching the political talking heads of the media lately, mostly on Fox News?
They're so full of it that i feel full just watchin 'em.
