The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. I have no affiliations with any broker/dealer and all posts are for educational purposes only. Red Alert: buy QQQQ May puts (42?)!

QQQQ closed @ 42.89

We are getting very close to a market meltdown is my opinion.

Why not protect yourselves (and perhaps profit some) when and if all hell breaks loose? The May QQQQ puts should allow you to sleep better at night and can make you a bundle if we get the devastation scenerio.

Buy first thing friday, and buy some more if the QQQQ's continue to go higher.

I do not think the correction is done yet. Many of the major worries are converging right now that can potentially cause a severe market crash. I think it will be short term though, because if it gets too severe, Ben Benanke will come in and save the day by quickly lower interest rates. Don't get too gunghole with those puts just yet until the smackdown really happens, but do add some as we go higher.

Beanie, RIMM seems to be trading in a very narrow range, and looks like its getting ready to make a major move. does it become a buy if it trades above 138?

Oh Man. I love these "flashing red warnings"
Remember this:
Tuesday, January 30, 2007
Flashing red warning!!!!!! Market correction is coming.

I've been looking charts of the SPY and QQQQ and it's telling me that a correction is coming very very soon. We are so long on the tooth with this bull run that started last July and has yet to correct. I believe that time is here.

Please shave off most of your long positions and keep 50% cash at least, so you can buy the stocks you love at the bottom of this correction.

After rallying through first 20 days of february on extremely low volume, the markets crashed and crashed hard.

Thanks Beanie.

I normally don't speculate in pennies from heaven but I think there is a huge upside in ZROS with a break thru internet technology, stock is thinly traded and there is no way of hedging your position so if interested play small so you cant get hurt, stock has made a big move and continues to move higher with a very tight float..does have potential to get listed on nasdaq and be something huge..again nibble a bit if you can afford to lose and tuck it away for a few..

Anonymous, it's not about "enjoying" anything. It's about "being right." Both Gose and I (and I imagine any trader) will be just as happy when stocks go up, provided we are positioned correctly.

Seriously, the most important lesson you can learn is that the markets go both ways -- this is especially true in a range bound period, which we may be in for the next number of years.

I recommend "Reminisces of a Stock Operator" by Edwin LeFevre (Jesse Livermore's bio). It was written some 85 years ago, but the lessons on trading are as true today as they were then.

What part of "Short selling is one thing" did you knuckleheads not comprehend?

I'm very familiar with Jesse Livermore. I'm an active short seller when the opportunity presents itself. I however don't take pleasure in falling markets.

Please, reread what I wrote. If you still fail to grasp what should be a fairly easy point to understand then we'll leave it at that. No time to argue!

Fri Mar 16, 01:24:00 PM EDT
Blogger JakeGint said...

Perhaps if you'd familiarize yourself with Blogger's simple sign up procedure, you'd have more credibility on your claims, Mr. "Anon."

In the meantime, your complaints about Gose's "celebrating" sounds like sour grapes. If you're "very familiar" with Livermore, you'd know that he's only celebrating being (temporarily) right.

Beanie or anyone question about RIMM. in this weak mkt RIMM has hardly moved at all showing either tremendous strength/tremendou weakness/ indecisiveness.

please correct me if i'm wrong but to me it looks like its shown tremendous strenght. with bad news in a bad mkt it hardly fell. the bollinger bands are indicating that it is getting ready for a big move and i feel that move is going to be to the upside. please feedback anyone. why do you guys feel RIMM is going to fall.

Fri Mar 16, 08:37:00 PM EDT
Blogger beanie11111 said...

alok,

Unless they upgrade the stock, RIMM will likely fall. From a technical perspective, there was a big reversal on Wed but there was no follow-thru; instead it was met with total undecisiveness on Thursday and today.

RIMM in the last two weeks closed slightly below the 10dayMA, but never above that line. The 10dayMA also crossed downwards below the 20dayMA last week, and is now on its way to the 50dayMA.
If it looks like RIMM will closed above the 10dayMA then i'll re-evaluate. Otherwise, RIMM is a short to me.

Hope that helps.

Beanie, your NVEC pick from this past week looks very compelling from a technical basis with the 50-day SMA in the process of turning up, MACD crossing up thru zero into bullish territory, and the stock trading in a nice upward trending channel reflected in rising high and low Bollinger Bands after breaking decisively above the 50-day SMA a week ago.

Recent upward price spikes have generated the higher volume with consolidative steps on weak or enemic volume.

The 10-day SMA crossed above the 50-day SMA a week ago and the 20-day SMA is currently crossing over the 50-day SMA.

There's a good deal of support at the current price which was resistance and now is solid support.

The ironic thing is each time NVEC has had a large upward spike in price and volume surge recently, the uncooperative general market has subsequently sold off hard, effectively muting any kind follow through short-term.

(A money making company with no debt and large year over year earnings and revenue growth to boot.)

What are your current thoughts on your NVEC pick.

Thanks in advance.

Gosu, I looked at MNST and OMX. Whatever it's worth, just based on technicals, none seem to have significant room to go. 10-15%?

Other shorts to look at are HLYS, ANSW and BIDU, all Gargoyle Investor picks. Would appreciate your thoughts on these.

Guys and Gals consider AAPL on your list, it's about to launch APPLE TV next week, will release a new operating system in April, and video ipod in Dec. Despite the option backdating issue, still doing good business and still trading close to 90.

Gosu, I looked at both the shorts too (MNST and OMX) and agree with Anon that they don't seem to be good shorts as they stand today. however if things can change if they go up a little and then begin the new downtrend, both stocks look weak. OMX seems to be just begining its downtrend.

Immediate term sell, longer term buy.

OMX:

It's a good short. It really is. Put options are the way to play this one.

MNST:

it could go up a little bit short term, but it's headed down in the intermediate term.

It's a good short as it goes higher.

It's great that I found this board... people posting on it well into the weekend!

In terms of puts on the Naz it is interesting that it held up so well this week. This is mostly because MSFT had a good week. I agree with you beanie, the Q's will be heading lower. There just has been too much technical damage done for the market to rally from here.

I started reading the site when you recommended shorting CRM. Is it still a short with a PE of 10,400?

Hi Beanie,

You are so right about your board. The group gathered here is very coolllllllllllll like you. Yea, I want to make money especially in today's market. The other board was too controversial, remember? Anyway, to Anonymous, ALOK, GOSU, you people are great and super helpful. TO: my buddy Anonymous, I should have bought LEND in the low 9.00's Thurs. Bought some in the mid-11.00's not alot. Man, that stock rocked on Friday so I have to hold for the moment at least one day according to SEC Bull crap. Used to have over 25K in my account...Can we build it up again? Like beanie said, were here to have fun, not panic, and enjoy the ride. So, Mon.
i'll sign on early cause it's TIME TO ROCK N ROLL ...Thanks, Pam

ANONYMOUS, your a wise trader as well, great tips...Thanks Pamfla

BOARD,

Hi kids! My step mom gave me a tip about a OTC which I generally don't mess and probably will not. The ticker symbol is CSUH.

Anyway, ANONYMOUS, what's your take with LEND on Mon. since I'm still holding? I think it will take off since I had my doubts on 3/16/07 and it did the opposite. If your up 30%, congrats. Beanie thinks the stock is on a down trend I think he thinks this? Mentioned that in the board's 150 comments. LOL

Beanie, is it correct to assume you are just basically negative on any longs at this time, in general, because you have assumed a short-term negative posture regarding the overall market?

LOL @ my step mom gave me a tip, consider this if financing falls apart and the news hits the tape and stock is HALTED it opens at a buck and any stop losses are not filled, bottomline, your holdings are virtually worthless, Sell LEND at the market, it had its ride down and its squeeze up last week, dead money and risky business holding overnight/week
