The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. Beanie do you think the markets will go down today?

Actually, i don't want you guys to short GS just yet until after 10am when the ISM numbers come out. That number will determine the direction of the market today.

I find it hard to believe that the market just take a huge one day beating on Tuesday and that be the end of it. It never works like that, as any veteran trader can tell you that. At the very least, there should at least be a testing of Tuesday's low. So i wouldn't be surprised at all we go down today and tomorrow.

The people claiming that a computer glitch accelerated the decline are the folks who are long stocks and didn't get out! lol

For a longer term swing, I think I'll wait till GS hits 195, then short on the way down. Seems to be a lot of support there.

If alot of hedge funds bought stock on large margin when we were rallying, it is very likely they will continue to sell by necessity as they keep on getting margin calls.

Beanie1111,

Great call on this market decline. You were one week early, but you made it up on the second week by sticking to your position. Don't let anyone on this board dictate your trading. You are the expert and that's why we all come here to listen to you speak.

Instead of bitching and whining like some of the people on the board, if they just listened to you they could have made money instead of losing money.

When you kept saying short ICE, I loaded up on ICE put and made out like a pig. I made enough money in 3 days equivilant to working almost 1 year and 4 months. No wonder why people love trading. Work a whole year or bag a winner in a week!!!

Up until last week, I was fully margined and long speculative stocks. On thursday of last week, I sold everything in my retirement account, moved everything from 401K into money accounts and sold all my long. Last week, Beanie and two other gurus blogs I follow all said the same thing; get into cash and the market will turn down severely. I guess when everything aligns you better listen. Great call beanie.

Golden Slacks already down $4.75 in pre-market. Taking my "Bear" Stearns with it, it looks like, although only bid and ask there thus far. Gotta figure if Golden gets hit, the weaker sister is going to get walloped.

Also short AKAM and CELG, good companies, but relatively fat pigs recently, ripe for bacon. Same goes for BLUD, which I've done well on on the long side. Last, CAL from our friend Mr. Knight the Author, since I love to beat up airlines for revenge purposes.

One I wish I shorted yesterday is ANAD, another nice long recently that is ripe for a culling.

Have you noticed on these quick downplunges you really need to watch the bid ask closely on these puts, and then just hit the bid when you see it come close to your price (fuggedabout the ask, or even the happy medium)? NDAQ might buy ITG. Then it’s 15% TO 20% GAP UP for NDAQ + ITG

It’s possible for (NDAQ + NYX) to go in opposite direction of ICE. ICE needs to test 50 day (132)

NYX is getting into Buy range . I may be one or two days early on CALLS.
Jim , YOU NEED TO LOOK AT Interactive Brokers.

I would suggest that you guys not to go by just what happened in the market today. It is easy to look at indicies and come to conclusion.
I would suggest you go to http://www2.barchart.com/momentum.asp and see the market momentum.
Even though the indexes are not down much (after being down over 2% in morning), the ratio of advancers to decliners suggest the market is internally very weak.

I was with Scottrade and its a traders nightmare. I switched to Interactive Brokers after a month and have been with them for over two years.
Most stock trades I do are between 2 to 10 dollars round trip.
Futures trades are less than 5 roundtrip.
Also, Bracket order functionality is awesome.

However, they are not the best as regards to charting and technical analysis. For that I would suggest TC2000 software or opening another account with TradeStation. I just opened an account with TradeStation to run some of my automated trading strategies.

z-stock. I use smart routing always. But the fees (listed at http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/accounts/fees/commissionFutures-FOPs.php?ib_entity=llc) is $4.80 round trip on CME and CBOT index futures.
Do you see anything different?
And I will check out the options chart thanks.
Also, I would suggest you vote in their features poll. We really need the additions to bracket orders.
Djf,
The minimum activity is 30 dollars in commissions, which for me is easily met in a day or two (15 round trip stock trades for 100 stocks)
If not, they only charge 10 dollars per month, which is the lowest I have seen for active traders - compared to TradeStation etc.

Statfor Email of Note - bin Laden

They send out Terrorist updates each day if you become a subscriber. This note that was part of their overall afternoon briefing caught my eye:

"AFGHANISTAN/PAKISTAN: Mullah Dadullah, a senior Taliban commander, said al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden is alive and in hiding near the Afghan border in northwest Pakistan. Dadullah said it is not possible to meet bin Laden, but if he had been martyred, word of his death would be readily available. He added that bin Laden is in touch with Taliban leaders in Afghanistan, exchanging messages and sharing plans."

Interesting and disturbing news. Stratfor is a source that I trust as being highly accurate. We know the score in Afghanistan where NATO is getting far more than it bargained for from a re-energizing Taliban. Attacks by Taliban are parabolically up from year before levels and the Spring thaw hasn't even occured yet in the country.
