The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns.
I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. I have no affiliations with any broker/dealer and all posts are for educational purposes only. JSDA:
a good long term investment
Ted Turner is a nutcase.
Wow, nice jobs number. We gonna rally.
The correction is essentially done now. Worst case is we get another leg down, but then we'll rally to new highs. No matter what happens in the next few months, we are going alot higher by year end.
It's Bear beating time!!!!!!!!!
We are gonna rally next week for most of the week is my opinion.
anon,
why you say that regarding Ted?
Beanie1111, your take on ICE as an intraday trade today, please. Thanks.
anon,
ICE is headed higher today
FSLR:
Cramer had been pushing this solar stock due to their ability to reduce cost of solar energy.
After doing more due diligence on the company, i like this stock and have already accumulated a position.
Recently, a former Intel executive was hired as president to run the company.
A major reason why i am making FSLR my favorite solar play is because the Waltons (as in the family that owns Walmart) have a huge investment in this company, owning over 26 million shares.
Beanie... Yahoo down premarket..GOOG up premarket... thoughts on how GOOG will today ?.............SKI
Gosu, thanks for your advice yesterday, now taking the job numbers into account do you still think i should cover my longs?
Gosu has said repeatedly that he will not be buying until after Mar. 16 Alok. Which means he'll be purchasing at significantly higher prices than you and I. :)
Well Anon, I hope your right but this rally has been at very low volume so I'm not sure that were totally clear yet, but I'd rather be a bull now than a bear. to me the downside potential seems limited, lets see. if beanie's prediction for next week comes true, i'll buy him a burger :-)
FSLR now trading at new highs
Yes, I would not be buying anything for the long term until March 16, 2007.
Its called risk management.
I am definitely buying. I totaled 42 trades yesterday alone.
Man! I love Interactive Brokers "Close all positions" button.
After my buying spree yesterday at market open, I realized, I was heavily into margin.
Once I reached my profit target, just click the "Close all positions". Before you blink the eye, all Unrealized gains are converted to realized gains.
I like the sound of that.
Hey Gosu.... RIMM down during this rally. Think that's a good indicator to short ?........SKI
Keep playing the fool, Gosu.
SKI,
RIMM is a short if it goes below 134.72.
But I think the market, especially the Nasdaq has gotten a little slightly ahead of itself.
Just my 2 cents.
Where is marktherat?
Bill Cara just took RIMM off his CARA 100 - SAYS BAD MANAGEMENT
Hmmmm..
GOOG, AAPL, MSFT, YHOO
All down for the day now.
Any thoughts?
beware of all the hype....
this is a retracement from the recent fall...
we are heading lower....
shorting RIMM, BIDU
I don't see much grow in alot of the sectors. The brokers are almost at $100 billion market cap for each. Ok i give em a double from here to almost $200 billion market cap but that's a little pushing it.
The exchange stocks are about $10 billion market cap a piece. I give it a double or maybe a triple to $30 billion market cap, but you know they can't all be triples.
Techs like Intel and Yahoo and their ilk, how much more can they grow from here? Not very much. I don't see any disruptive technology can could inspire a new bull market there.
Oil? C'mon, how much more can it go? If it gets too expensive, we would be in trouble and the government will do something about it. (Peak oil would have to surprise us overnite to cause a surge.)
Housing? Nah.
Commodities? Yes but it is now red hot and should trade sideways for awhile. This sector should have another decade or two to go.
The only sector i see that are at their early growth stage and are growing rapidly is alternative energy, especially solar energy. Look at the financials of SPWR, STP , TSL and FSLR. Their financials are on fire! For the next 5 years or so, this has to be the place to be. It is certainly disruptive technology, and will likely lead the next huge bull market.
You can set your clock to it. I think I'll call it the Gosu Crow. Some anonymous joker comes on to gig Gosu and the market heads south. I like that FSLR pick, but not today, btw. (And DESPITE Ted Turner's rec...geesh)
STP earnings is next Monday. Hence i don't see much downside to solar stocks today.
here is a gift....
when VSH breaks $14.57, it will challenge the 52 week high at $17
Where do you see the bad news on RIMM? Can you supply a link. I am heavily long RIMM and if that is true they will kill that stock.
I could be wrong about a rally next week. I recommend you buy the CME march 570 puts. CME is due for a drop.
Play small.
What do you guys think about ALJ (Oil and gas refinery)?
Look at its chart here.
PE of 9.
Chart looks ready for a breakout?
Be careful next week. A big drop after a long run up is always followed by a test of the lows. Just look at the end of May 2006. If you look at the weekly chart of the S&P, you'll see that we might go all the way down to the 100 day moving average (of the weekly chart).
I am gettin the feeling we will close negative today
I think its the same feeling as last week on friday - nobody wants to go into the weekend with large open positions.
Alternative Energy Play:
what about an ETF like PowerShares WilderHill Clean Energy (PBW) to play the alternative energy field and spread the risk??
I get the same feeling, Beanz and Gosu. And the volume seems to indicate you are correct. Let's use Occam's Razor and posit the question-- "Will traders be barreling into stocks this afternoon for the weekend hold?"
I'd get out of anything speculative in a long position...
Beanie, ONNN is busting out as we discussed last night!
Rest of semiconductor sector looking very interesting post NSM earnings last night confirming the more bullish tone analyst's are taking on this sector at this juncture in the semiconductor cycle.
What's your take at this time?
beanie what is happening to ASTI down 8% today, isnt that one of your other fav's.
ALTI is getting worked beanie. Thoughts?
Beanie's CLWR is also getting crapped on today, lol
Wheres the volume??????
Uh oh, now they're bating Beanz... may be time to go long again... (G)
This is the most boring markets I have seen in weeks.
Hopefully the options expiration next week will be better.
RIMM is looking very weak ...
A.
So is GOOG. I'm thinking it may be a good short.
speculative alternative energy stocks like ESLR, ASTI, ALTI, etc.. are meant for longer term holds.
I suggested buy a little bit of each for an "investment". Never said they were swingtrades.
All stocks named above are a bit overbought short term. But longer term (1-5 years), they are all "cheap".
Hi Beanie,
HAs ICE bottomed. Also appreciate your opinions going long on BSC,GS, NYX and NMX.
appreciate the help.
Also help on SMSI I bought AUG 20 calls. It dropped 5% today on no news.
Waiting to see if ICE will break 128.50!
ASTI is acting like a perfect short going into next week.
I agree.
Good thing i shorted ASTI at 4.70 this morning :)
Charles H. Johnson & Associates announces they are investigating the backdating of Research in Motion stock options granted to company employees.
A.
Next week should be interesting. Option expiration weeks are always more volatile. Up and down moves in the market are exaggerated.

Thats it buddy!
ICE below 128.50
Markets seem to be going down hard
All indices now at the low of the session.
It would really be interesting to see if S&P can hold 1400.
RIMM finally cracking today
Beanie
Is it time to short RIMM?
I can't find support on the charts below $133???!! HELP Me figure it out.
Don't forget Google guys. Been shorting this puppy since wed.
JSDA is a very cheap stock. Going much higher if it closes near 17
anon,
yes you can short RIMM. Going to 120. I wish you had shorted higher though.
you can NOT sell short a non-marginable security, stocks under $5 are held @ 100 percent equity people and NO firm will let you short the stock because it is a REG T and exchange rule not a brokerage firm rule.. period!
solar play STP announcing earnings on Monday. If you got guts and money, go long. I think it should be a blowout in earnings and it'll run like FSLR.
Beanie what about CLWR? Sell and wait? Thanks.
Beanie,
Why do you consider JSDA cheap? Its p/e is over 130, high for a non-tech...
This comment has been removed by the author.
GreenBeanie...CLWR...where's the bottom? Thanks.
What the hell happened to NMX (Nymex)?
Some takeover rumor?
Stocks up 5 dollars in 5 mins!!!!!
Don't know if I can post a chart here, but has anyone noted the trend line on the weekly Comp?

so what is this mkt telling us. no vol on move up, no vol on move down. somehow i'm still not convinced that we need to be bearish.
You know why I like playing the Russell 2000 over any other similar index?
Because, no matter how your trade goes, you can always practice your best Scooby-doo or Astro imitations:
"RUT-roh!"
Of course if you want the full Scooby effect, then you must also short the Russell 3000 Growth index... then you can say:
"RUT-roh, RAGgy!"
Somethings cooking with NMX?
800 thousand shares bought in the last half hour.
The trading pattern seems similar to the one with TXU, when it was bought out for 20% above its closing price.
Somebody has inside information and is ready to buy shares at any price.
YHOO headed back down to 25 Bad DSL decision with ATT. Losses of $250 in the pipe…
Beanie...CLWR looking bad. Sell before close?? Thanks.
wazzup with NMX?

Anon,
What you said is not true! Check with Gosu who posted yesterday that he was able to do so.
Paul
Somethings cooking with NMX and nobody would tell us.
Gosu is a liar paul. It's simply not possible.
NMX action looks like some Gordon Gekko buying Annacott Steel.
http://messages.finance.yahoo.com/Stocks_%28A_to_Z%29/Stocks_N/threadview?m=tm&bn=51256&tid=2848&mid=2848&tof=1&frt=2
Unless a solid turnaround happens before the close, both the Dow and NASD seem to be set up for a decline Monday. Barring any positive surprises Monday.
My 2 cents. Beanie?
Oh so, this is about the size of the secondary offering too small.
Kool. Thanks for the link, buddy.
You can buy APR $5 PUTS ON NEW. SPREAD IS 6 CENT. It’s penny spread. That’s how shortable it is on IB…If your’e not trading at Interactive Broker

right at 2:25 some 426,000 shs changed hands and then NYM was off to the races.... Go Mets.
Beanie, let's hear it. CLWR?
Z-stock,
You seem like an honest guy. Can you settle this issue about being able to sell short a stock that's under $5?? Gosu claimed he was able to short NEW at IB yesterday. If that's true, I'm switching over tomorrow!
Thanks.
Paul
Sorry, I meant "NMX"
Anon, don't suffer through the weekend... dump it. Buy it back if it looks good next week. Only a commish.
Paul,
with all due respect to GOSU or anyone else on the boards, you can NOT short a stock under $5 anywhere! Nonetheless, heres the IB list:
The following stocks are listed on the Reg-SHO watch list. Reg-SHO is a US regulation governing stock shortability. In general, Reg-SHO restricted stocks are not permitted for shorting. However, IB may allow Reg-SHO stocks to be shorted when inventory conditions permit. The main shortable list defines the actual availability.
http://www.nyse.com/threshold/
**Inventory YES but once the stock falls below 5 it becomes NON marginable and the firm requires you to maintain @ 100 % equity thus you may not sell short**
Paul,
This anonymous is a moron. As I said, NEW started its day yesterday at 5.61. Click here to see lifetime chart of NEW. It was never before yesterday a "sub 5 dollar stock"
Also, Click here to see the following information on Yahoo Finance on NEW.
Shares Short (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 16.73M
Short Ratio (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 4.5
Short % of Float (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 36.10%
Shares Short (prior month)3: 12.79M
Anyway, you don't want to come to IB just for list of shorting stocks
The price on stock trades (1 dollar on most), options and futures trading is my main reason for working with IB.
Also, its client software is fast and intuitive and has one of the fastest execution on the market.
Plus, the support is awesome.
Thanks jakegint I'm out CLWR.
Interesting. There actually WAS some buying this afternoon...
But considering the low overall volume (at least on the NAZ), it could've just been short covering...
LOL @ moron like I said, you cant short a stock under 5 bucks and these peeps saying they are doing it at IB is BS...and if any stock drops under five you are required to maintain at 100% equity and arguing on the internet with retarded fools who have no risk management experience in margin is like "running in the special olympics even if you win, you're still retarded..
Have a great weekend ALL..!
NEW DELISTED TODAY. From short list.
You can still buy PUT Options…. what most of us are doing on this board,
so SHORT to "us" means BUY PUTS…
I fear ICE won’t reach my entry price of $123.
So $127 will be good enough. Exit $145 and higher.
JSDA:
i suggest you buy a bunch of the stock right now afterhours if you don't own shares. It will gap up big on Monday.
It is very cheap compared to how many retailers will soon be selling their sodas. They been selling mostly in Target and to a lesser extent Starbucks. Now they getting Walmart, kroger, Safeway, etc...
Read the press release.
CAL GOL LCC LUV AMR getting ready to POP…(way high)
It’s possible to buy the >>>>
LCC MAR 50 call FOR .50 sell .80,
The very fact that that trade is possible for success means airline stocks have bottomed. Strange way to call the bottom, I know, ( but out of the box thinking, pays off, more ways than you know. )
And, falling OIL prices help a lot…OIL going down down down , oil pits have run out of tricks….
Do you guys think NMX (Nymex) will go up monday morning, based on the information we now know about the secondary float being very small and the shorts getting squeezed?
Here is the news:
NEW YORK, March 9 (Reuters) - NYMEX Holdings Inc. (NMX.N: Quote, Profile, Research), which owns the world's largest physical commodities exchange, is expected to offer between 5 million and 10 million shares in a secondary offering, Dow Jones reported on Friday.
Nymex shares were up 4.5 percent, or $5.36, at $124.29 in late afternoon trading on Friday.
An offering of 10 million shares would be worth about $1.2 billion at NYMEX's current share price.
gosu,
NMX is headed higher next week. This stock bottomed big time.
NMX:
don't worry about their secondary offering. GOOG had several of those. So what? It's ok for good profitable companies to have these kinds of offerings. It means they have good plans as to what to do with the extra cash.
FSLR:
Again, i'd like to reiterate my love for this solar company.
- growing exponentially
- profitable
- hot sector
- cramer endorsed
- Waltons family (Walmart founders) invested huge.
That's incredibly irresponsible of you to recommend buying a stock after hours on earnings speculation beanie. For shame.
beanie joans soda is also available in some restaurants like panera bread. it is really going to take off. can you give me your take on another such canadian company CCBEF, this one is lesser known.

HEHEHEHEHE...The award for joker of the year goes to this anon. trader.
"Speculation" is a good thing. Why else are you trading if you are not speculating and following your gut feeling.
Shame on you for being such a loser.
Gosu, does FSLR look over bought to you?
No Alok, it does not.
I am doing "dollar cost averaging up" on this stock.
It is also on IBD top 100 list and has now a break out.
It is up 100% in the past 65 days.
Gosu is so kind to appoint himself beanie's spokeperson but I was not addressing him. Did you buy after hours after beanie's post? Of course not. I certainly hope no one followed such reckless advice. I enjoy this blog but felt compelled to speak my mind on this issue.
I was speaking my mind too buddy. And so was Beanie when he suggested to buy the shares in after hours. You are such a loser that you don't understand that sometime after hours is the best time to buy a stock, which you know had a lot of momentum and is likely to carry over Monday morning, when all market at open orders hit.
So, either contribute positively to the board or shut the hell up. contribute posit
Should be interesting to see how you do Monday then. What was your after hours entry price?
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Hey Alok,
I know you are interested in some technical analysis.
This guy is really technical. http://stockbee.blogspot.com
This guy is little too technical.
He also has FSLR on his list.
thanks gosu, its just that in the short term like today, it looks like it formed a double top. so unless we see more positive momentum getting in at this price seems to be in my opinion getting in too late. i'm sure it will pull back (like all stocks do) and present us with a better entry point. that is just my opinion.
and what is this, i thought you were 100% cash, when the heck did you start accumulating :) you sly CUSTARD (i'll keep the board clean for all the kids out there, damn i envy you traders, i'm here working at 2:30 on a sat morning, this week has been hell, someone please post a good joke or something, cud use a good laugh)
i'm sure it will pull back (like all stocks do) and present us with a better entry point. that is just my opinion.
That is so true Alok. Just as I was kicking myself for selling ICE at 139 , GS at 204 and CME at 543 back in Dec. and Jan., it was unbelievable to see ICE at 127 (from high of 167), GS at 190 (from 222) and CME at 509 (from 596)at their lows just in the last few days.
Did you had a chance to see the stockbee blog?
I would you at least read the following:

Alok,
I hope this funny video will put a smile on your face! :)
lol Anon, I'm a big office fan. infact last night (i should say early morning cause it was about 5 by then) i was watching an older rerun what i had stored on my DVR. cant wait for the next season to start.
did you see the SNL that Dwight had hosted. I thought he did a good job there too.
Gosu, i was looking at it last night but didn't give it a thorough read. i'll do that tomorrow.
someone here was kicking himself for selling OPBL when it was high flying. i like it now here at 6.4, if we dont see any more weakness this should go back to 9 soon.
I like Z's idea of the airline stocks bottoming. I don't know how many of you use Gann levels, but it seems like CAL and UAUA are approaching the G2 level. Cramer likes UAUA, but I'm more inclined to buy CAL just from my personal experience as a United frequent flier. Needless to say me and other UA fliers have really noticed the decrease in service since the exit from bankruptcy. I know plenty of Premier Executives, 1K's, and Global Service members that have gone over to Continental over this.
Follow up on buy the airlines.
XAL has more potential downside risk.
XAL 50/52 , makes for better entry price.
This just in…. XOM share buy back program = $7 bil. Per Q. That’ll keep XLE high.
XLE stays high, also means SOLAR POWER stocks stay high.
http://stockcharts.com/charts/candleglance.php?XLE,XOM,fslr,COP,cvx,wfr,stp,APC,spwr,VLO|B|B14
Downside to buying Airlines at this time, Tim Knight still bearish on CAL. (I don’t know why). http://tradertim.blogspot.com/
Also, XAL, sitting at 200 day = 53.8, and though it is a tempting buy signal,
Xal can still manage to fall another $3 ( 2.5% - 6%)to (at) 50/52,
and that is a stronger entry signal, for CAL + others
Airline bottoms can be tough to call sometimes.. We are there now, or one blow out day left.
If gosu is right about MAR 16, then markets should head down this week.
Came across this analysis that I thought may be of interest to others in the Beanie11111 community. By Howard Blackstein. I tend to agree, based on the market's behaviour and charts last week. Any thoughts?
http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/Favorites.CServlet?obj=ID1571940
z-stock, the only way airlines are going to start going up is oil starts to go down. we saw a small slide in oil prices on friday. if it continues this week then airline stocks should start their recovery. i agree with you, they've been slammed very hard but then oil had run up from 50-63. normally oil has a pull back in march before the summer run up. i think the late winter also helped oil in feb or else we should have been near 55.
IS ANYONE ELSE PAYING $3 FOR GAS AGAIN, is it me or does everyone feel that gas is going up by a buck every couple of yrs.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Z, I think Tim is bearish on CAL because it has not done a full retracement yet. The G2 level/50% Fibbonaci level is at $36.90 for CAL.
My thoughts for this weekend:
CA is going lower.
JSDA if it doesn't gap up on Monday you need to sell if you're daytrading the stock.
I get the feeling we may have another leg down before the true recovery. We either go up most of next week and then sputter the week after, or we start going down on Monday (The friday afternoon buys may be setting the stage for that).
Solar stocks, and alternative energy, are the places to be for the next several years. I am very convinced of that. I like FSLR the most because the Walmart Waltons own a large stake. They don't seem to own anything else besides Walmart and First Solar.
SMSI is going places and could be the phone companies' last hope against the iPhone's music download capabilities. SMSI is a buy for the long term. Speculation is that they already bagged Sprint.
CLWR, offered here as a daytrade, could be the next Vonage the Dog.. lol. Actually, it won't be like vonage, because given enough time it'll run Vonage out of business. It is like vonage because it is a debt-laden company. CLWR has a very compelling product: you just plug a wireless modem into any electrical outlet and you get high speed wireless internet access. Wimax. They also offer a phone service similar to Vonage but theirs are wireless and Vonage is not. But their network is costly to build. Intel and Motorola has a big investment in the company. Can they succeed before running out of money? Stay tuned..... (I got no position)
The yen carry trade is given the reason for the market tankage 2 weeks ago. Question is, if the yen carry trade is the problem there is no way it's done unwinding this quickly. I am hearing that the yen carry trade is in the trillions as opposed to billions. Hedgefunds and others took advantage of the very low interest rates of the Japanese currency and invested in higher yield instruments elsewhere. But you know it can't stay low forever. Keep watching the asian markets......
CME unbelievable i missed that drop and the rise. Puts and calls could have been multibaggers each way. Right now as it stands it could go either way. Some people are bettin it goes down from here. But it's premature because the stock is still above the 50dayMA.
Have a great weekend!
(continued)
correction: CAL (not CA) is going down.
---
AAPL is now a short.
---
PALM is now a short.

oh what a boring weekend, hate it when both days go working. hope we have a good week, but looking at beanies prediction seems like this week is going to be a downer.
Asian markets up right now. Some how I don't think this will carry over.
Asians markets up, but the futures are completely unmoved from Fridays close and the volume is anemic.
Last few sunday evenings, the volume has been a lot more.
Lets see!
Hi Board & Night Owls,
Does anyone know about a stock named DMGI? Please give me feedback. Thanks,
Pamfla
asian mkts ALL positive, and looking really strong. i hope it carrys over to europe and then US.
