The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns.
I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. I have no affiliations with any broker/dealer and all posts are for educational purposes only. Beanie world mkts are recovering quite strongly. do you think the correction is done?
I think the markets will rally today like Tuesday - Dow up triple digits.
alok,
i would think so, but let's see what the DJIA does when it gets to 12500. Meanwhile, stocks are oversold.
darn it, did we get cramerized by TTWO? lol
I hope so too, I've been accumulating some this week so I need a rally :)
Beanie:
Could the rebound be made by the bulls including MMs as a cushion for tomorrow's fall?
SMSI looking at a breakout to a new 52 week high over $19..
volume and price picking up
will be selling my 100 contracts into strength..has ICE seen its S/T bottom?
GOOG:
girlymen Fast Money going against the Beanie again???? lol
Next week i believe the markets will fly. i think the market correction is done.
Beanie,
With ALTI earnings, going down???
Oh well, thought it would pop up?
Pamie
The fools at Fast Money got their people (the aggressive ones) short on GOOG. They are being annilated right now.
Idiots!
lol
GOOG:
At least The Admiral said it has essentially bottomed. The other 3 are mo-rons! lol
CLWR just ipo-ed!!!!
26
It was interesting to see how the Fast Money guys were only discussing shorts yesterday.
CLWR:
i got myself some at 26
CLWR:
go tell everybody to get some!!!!!!
CRM:
this stock has pretty much bottomed
FSLR is flying ...
A.
Beanie, re:CRM...
Do you really think a company that trades at 10,900 p/e on virtually no earnings has bottomed?
Look out below on this one; maybe not today or tomorrow, but thbis thing is ripe for a short...
CRM is a short, insiders dump 20k shares a day. Come on Beanie your on a roll, don't throw CRM on a buy.
I agree, CRM looks like junk.
Does anyone think YHOO is overpriced? I am considering to short it if it touches 31.
Thanks
Dimitry
Again, alternative energy stocks (like my favorite WFR) are flying.
They are flyin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wahat the heck is up with DRYS? Anyone?
JC
not playing CLWR. easier money elsewhere. wondering how much money they spent marketing this pig of a deal.
West
Likely we gonna get profit taking this afternoon.
Just to let ya know
Agreed on CLWR...wait a few weeks then short it. Seems to be the way ipo's work these days...

Oh man! I love these roaring rallies, which fizzle...
CLWR:
wow! Is that why Cramer doesn't talk about it anymore? yikes! lol
regarding CLWR, absolutely agree.
btw, the Pali analyst who thinks it's worth $35 is none other than walter pycek....
he's the guy who in 2000 put a $1000 target on qcom (pre- 4-1 split) based on his 2010 estimates.....
so disregard his analysis...he's totally clueless
West
I'm not taking a position on anything until after jobs numbers tomorrow.
in what timeframe do you think the dow will break 13,300 ?
meant 12,300, if not today ? is it a ceiling for the near future ?
Hi Beanie,
What is up with GOOG not going with the market.?!!!
CLWR doing poorly.
it is a high risk high wire ipo....as I posted earlier this week, this ipo has a little bit of everything I look to avoid with ipo's.
one thing I pride myself on is looking at ipo's objectively and shutting out the opinions of others and/or hype etc.....avoid it at any price.
beanie was high on this one, but not me.
West
West,
Great call on CLWR - it's ugly! I won't bother with IPOs that you don't recommend. There are too many risks already.
Again thank you for saving us $$$.
what happened to gosu??
lmao
Done for the day dude.
I love these roaring rallies..buy on margin at 9:30 am - all my favorite stocks - Exchanges, brokerages and casinos and dump them for a 4% profit at 10:30 am.
SWEEEET
Thoughts on ICE today? Would like to think it's a weak bounce to the 50 Day Average and we head back down from here. But this one has been known to be ruthless when it climbs.
Thanks.
beanie, any thoughts on NYX?
Are you kidding me? Past two o'clock and we haven't traded 1.25 mm shares on the Nasdaq?
Maybe the bulls heard a meow out of that cat, but I'm pretty sure we're talking an expulsion of air....
I am not a big shorter. But just for fun I shorted 500 NEW today at 4.70.
Man, it just fell off the cliff after that.
OPBL is a good buy here.
I hear you jakeGint.
The last hour today will be very interesting.
Just got some RUT puts... This cat will rut no more. This cat is deceased... this cat is an "ex-cat."
Just bot my GS puts back again...
Heck, I may even take another shot at the Law, uhm, I mean the Goog.
Very good Jake Gint.
Dow down 70 points in last hour.

Alok,
I suggest to consider locking some profits.
VIX is heading up! I think the markets will close red by the end of day.
Hey Go, where the anonymous guy who always asks for you every time the market is up?
Looking for the cat resuscitation paddles?
Again?
'Cause there's only so many times you can shock the poor things before that burnt fur smell is permanantly in the carpet...
Both Microsoft and Apple are down for the day and are now near the LOD.
I don't see how Nasdaq can close positive with both tech leaders closing negative.
Hope for the best.

Yes, this is so funny JakeGint. Because these days I am trading only on days in which the market is clearly roaring up.
These type of days are very good for me because I am in and out the market in 1 hour or less with sweeet profits.
Rest days, 5% interest on cash looks really nice.
Go-
So you are not playing anything short?
I am not to much into short. When I short, I don't carry my trade overnight.
When the markets are volatile, I like to participate in super rallies like the one on tuesday and today morning and then get out few hours later.
Thats why I am here. Learn - what and how to short.
I’m not posting, due to the fact that This market has me twisting apple’s.
I nibbled on some BIIB calls, but that’s probably wrong too.
JakeGint, i'm short GS aswell, out before market close.
Beanie11111, I have been following this site for a bit. Have been day/swing/position-trading since the abacus. I really appreciate the interface on this board when studious, worthwhile, cogent comments and opinions, backed up by market fundamentals and seasoned instinctual trading, are presented. I have observed something in the past few days, daytrading ICE, of which I am sure you are already aware. I placed a one minute chart of the QID next to the one minute chart of ICE ( I trade with a number of different time periods, averages, etc.) and it has been a really big help. Thanks again for a great blog interface.
any ideas about the market tomorrow ?
Ice trading at 25X (2008) forward earnings. Resting on it 22% fib line. I call that bullish.
And if CME can double top, so forth and so forth.. I’d still like to see ICE test Jan $123 low. That will be quite low. And time to pile in…..
LOL @ shorting under $5 a share
DELL looks like a short

Gosu, how come you can short a stock under $5?
Good catch, Anon!
You guys missed the key phrase ,"But just for fun"
in "But just for fun I shorted 500 NEW today at 4.70."
Plus, as I said...
Thats why I am here. Learn - what and how to short.
My typical trade size is about 20K.
Now, it is getting clear that to be an effective trader you need to learn to short as well.
Thats how you start. This trade size to short NEW was only about 2.5K.
Plus, can anybody tell me that it was a bad trade?
The stock has been battered almost 70% on all kinds of bad news.
Looking at its one day chart, it started the day at 5.60. It started going down on really very high volume, the MACDs were screaming to the downside.
How else do you pick up a better short candidate to day trade? Anybody?
Also, why does it matter that the stock was under 5 dollars?
Its all about percentages right? I got 4% out of it in 10 mins. Anything wrong?
Gosu--
Most brokerages will not allow you to short a stock under $5....
Interesting. Interactive Brokers did allow.
You guys should leave your sucker broker for Interactive.
I think it is more about availability of stock for shorting a stock under $5 than the price of the stock. Most stocks under $5 usually have a trading volume of under 1 million.
Look at the volume today for NEW - 50 million shares traded today.
I don't think there was any shortage of NEW stock for brokerages to let borrow for shorting.
GMKT just crashed, but I bet they say something about their Japan launch in CC and it will bounce.
Might put a few bucks in play
Try this for shorting basics:
http://www.daytraders.com/short_selling.html
Well, as I said - NEW is shortable at Interactive brokers.
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/ViewShortableStocks.php?key=NEW&cntry=usa&tag=United+States&ib_entity=llc&ln=
Go Interactive Brokers.
If you are not signed up at Interactive Brokers you are $^$#@3
Missing OUT...
NSM beat on earnings. Up nicely afterhours.
http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/national-semi-earnings-beat-estimate/story.aspx?guid=%7BBC3581D5%2D70AC%2D4C29%2D8092%2D2EBDC7A5812B%7D&tool=1&dist=bigcharts&
STO closed the GAP. (AGAIN!) It always closes the GAP. And I missed it.
ANY one have a good alert system? Because, Obviously mine is full of BS.
There are quite a few OTCBB stocks that are shortable at IB also.
Interactive Brokers short list is one of the best I have seen.
GMKT will pull a CWTR and close green tomorrow.
Cramer is all over this one.
Started with Interactive Brokers a few years ago and never looked back. Amazing.
jackmehog,
Thanks for answering the question regarding if stocks under $5 can be shorted. So much for Gosu's credibility!
"OTHER STOCKS YOU CANNOT SHORT - Aside from being unable to locate shares to short in the first place, there are other cases in which you may find that you cannot short a stock. Generally speaking, you cannot short most IPO's, nor can you short stocks under $5 (however, as an interesting side note, I believe in Canada you can short stocks of any price)."
I can't believe how moron you are. But thank god for moron traders like you, wall street is making money.
NEW (New Century financial) started its day at 5.61. So, if it gaps down (like it did today), it suddenly becomes non-shortable?
This is from Yahoo finance.
Shares Short (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 16.73M
Short Ratio (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 4.5
Short % of Float (as of 12-Feb-07)3: 36.10%
Shares Short (prior month)3: 12.79M
Also, this from foxnews
Short-sellers have been waiting for New Century's troubles to snowball, with the number of shares held short, meaning investors expect them to go down, rising by nearly a third the latest date for which data are available. About one-third of New Century's public float is held short,
Gosu I think you got of NEW too early,
you should have tried for 7 cents.
I calculate the correct exit for NEW at 7 cents.
Beanie, what do you think of the semiconductors after tonights market reaction to NSM's earnings report after the close.
Also, ONNN is looking to bust over 10. tomorrow in one of the stronger recoveries from the recent bludgeoning.
Standard and Poor's gave ONNN an upgrade yesterday "on valuation" and raised its target price on ONNN up 2 dollars.

Hey Beanie... I gotta ask you man, cause maybe I'm either confused or just plain ignorant on this, but you've mentioned several times that WFR is one of your favorite alt. energy plays. Yahoo business as well as IBD list WFR, MEMC ELECTRONIC MATERIALS, as a semiconductor stock. Please follow up on this?..........SKI
walstinvestor,
yes ONNN looks good.
SKI,
WFR makes the semiconductors for the solar cells.
this "Rally" is on very light volume
don't think we wont retest
good luck!!
