The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. (W. regard to what you posted on that last entry (go long AMGN))--

Beanz, all due respect, but I think you've got your wires crossed on the global warming thing.

I don't think anyone is disputing that the earth has warmed a tad (as it has off and on for millions of years). I think the dispute lies in causation.

Is it man made? Then what caused the warming in the 14th century? The Black Plague? What's warming Mars? Martian SUV's?

Or is it caused by normal solar cycles like the one that's peaking right now?

All I'm saying is don't get too caught up in the hype. There's a lot of money in being "green" these days, and it's not just Gulfstream Al Gore that's raking it in.

_____________________

That said, I think there's wisdom in speculating in the more solid alternate energy plays, even though I'd lean towards those that will provide abundant electricity through nuclear capacity than perhaps those from the solar side, which I think will remain a niche power supply until the technology changes.

WFMI is not even close to a bottom yet, maybe a bounce[ which i doubt also] but no bottom. There will be a leg up this AM to @ $38.85 an then another leg down. [ not substantial tho] and then ?, I haven't looked at long term shart, just last few days. Way too much risk for me in that chart.

NULL,

10 Min chart on the cubes. Double bottom at $46 yesterday, [which also happens to be lower trendline for the last 5 days on the tens,] and in a bear flag now tho and may break out either way. Upside breakout could take it to upper trendline resistance @ $46.60 area[+/-.10]. A bounce down there would be place to pick up puts for short term drop. A push thru would then test yestedays highs. A break down of $46 would be great for puts, but I'd wait for confirmation before buying to avoid the bear trap.

Option volume lately appears to be predicting the qqqq between 45-46 soon. But is not always a true reading[max pain theory]

CGPI finally starting to get some downward mo here after that initial plunge couple weeks back.

Finally busted the near term (8/1/06-2/22/07) 78.6% retrace number at $10.06, and now heading to the long term (5/18/05-2/22/07) 50% retrace line at $9.82. I don't expect much resistance there, and if we bust it, we should be home free til almost 8.40, where the near term retrace hits 100% and theirs decent support.

Given the recent crappy news on this stock, I think this is a reasonable high percentage play for this market environment.

Dimitry, forgive my error on the LVS 38.2% long term fib... It's hard to get a read on these lines on the long term charts.. a touch of the mouse loses you fifty cents.

The actual line is HIGHER at about 78.85 or so... so we are about fifty cents give or take BELOW it right now.

Again, caution, as this may be a better near term short oppprtunity.

Wed May 16, 11:14:00 AM EDT
Blogger JakeGint said...

Wow! Tie, last week's hero now looking like a great short opp here if it continues this bounce (weak) off two separate intermediate term (overlapping) fib lines at 37.03. If it can get past 37.20 or so, it should go back to 37.35, or even BETTER, 37.70-ish, and then be a great short opp from there.

Gose -- but what does the term "macaca" mean?

Wed May 16, 11:22:00 AM EDT
Blogger TraderB said...

From Wikipedia:

"Macaca[1] is a pejorative epithet used by francophone colonialists in Central Africa's Belgian Congo for the native population.[2] It may be derived from the name of the genus comprising macaque monkeys. The word macaque has also been used as a racial slur. The macaque's genus name, Macaca, is a latinization of the Bantu (Kongo) ma-kako,[3] meaning "monkey".

In the United States, the term was at the center of a controversy during the 2006 United States Senate election in Virginia when it was used by the Republican incumbent, George Allen. Relating to the Allen controversy, "Macaca" was named the most politically incorrect word of 2006 on December 15 by Global Language Monitor, a nonprofit group that studies word usage [2"

The markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.

That's why I let these suckers get kicked around a bit before I try to short them m'self. And even then you really have to keep a tight stop. Take a look at AKAM today... this morning I was bitching and moaning about not being able to buy the May 45's at $2.90, and they went all the way to $4.00 today... only to end up bid/ask $2.15-2.30!

I like AKAM as a short again, especially if it manages to feebly bump it's head on it's last busted short term retracement level at about 42.55, and then fall off.

"Feebly," means LOW VOLUME. (All sentient board readers can disregard this last bit.)
