The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. Thanks for the heads up... I've been waiting on this one...

What's your thinking on STP and TSL?

It appears my personal ankle parasite is dying to know.

And parasites gotta eat, ya know.

Ayman... MPEL up over a buck off it's low on pretty strong volume... You don't think all that crap was priced in?

Someone wanted in, in a big way....

Blogger JakeGint said...

Dimwit asked for a new read on TSL, so out of respect for those interested outside his pathological ranting....

It's now banging it's head against that first fib again (56.95ish), but it's looking pallid, volume wise, so I'd expect it to get turned here again.

Good news is there's decent support in the 54.50ish area. Bad news is the next fib is all the way down at 49.50.

Obviously, everyone but the parasite knows not to make a move until it's confirmed by volume. Better to be a little late than early. The Rothschild rule.

Advice, please.

My beloved BOOM is showing institutional ownership at over 92%. Has anyone seen accumulation like this before? Is this a sign of a buyout looming?

Thoughts please.

Only 12.5M in the float. 11.1M owned by institutions. 1.8M shares short at last count.

Tue May 15, 01:19:00 PM EDT
Blogger JakeGint said...

Boom... lot of investment folks will tell you that when a stock is that institutionally saturated, there's not much room left for serious market beating upside.

This has nothing to do with a buyout, however. Look to the sector to determine if there's more than average acquisitiveness..

This is a scary entry, I'm not sure if HNSN has bottomed but i'm starting to buy a little. I hope this is the final down day for it. it has a lot of support at 20. lets see how things play, might have to revist strategy if it goes below 19.75

Since you guys are talking about FIB's i thougth i would just chime in, FIB's are used by a lot of people, especially on indexes. its a good idea to know where the numbers are so that you can use them to your advantage.

i'm not too sure about the bottom which is why i bought just a little today. if it goes up tomorrow i might add more to my position. keep me in the loop if you find something interesting.

ah darn, fslr now red...

I agree Lane. I don't see any reason for a crash/correction.

But I think solar stocks may be in for a further decline. Moral of the story - I am not touching them, no matter where they go from here.

no problem PM, no offense taken. just saw that you weren't getting what you needed and i feel your pain 10% in one day is not a good place to be for anyone. hope you get it back fast, the positive side of all this is that these are fast movers. who knows you might make it back in 2 days. BOL.

Holy schmoley... remember that LONG LONG term stock I talked about a couple of weeks back? Monsanto (NYSE: MON)?

One for the IRA's... put it away and hold it forever ('cause I think it's the Microshaft of the bioagricultural world?)?

It's up almost five percent today and another buck in AH... (to $62).

This really is one to hold for the duration.

MON is a winner, but evil. I worked there for a very short time. Couldnt stomach it. My conscience was bothered. Had an option on 20k at 13! Quit.

I can't make investments in MON. Ethical compromise for me.

p.m.,

i recall stating that TSL was good if it stays above 60. If it goes below it, you would need to sell if you're daytrading or swinging.

I did not play TSL so i wasn't paying attention after calling it.

Guys, this is what works here in my experience here;
1) When the markets on a roll - up 3-4% in a month, beanies picks will give you 10-15%
2) When the markets give up the momentum - like they are doing now - beanies picks will go down 10-15%.

So, no matter what, you need to feel the pulse of the market.

I do not see any signs of crash or 10% correction, but I am surprised by the weakness in Nasdaq and especially the Russell.

I agree with this assessment completely
Market Monitor

* Sellers in control, bounce quickly faded.
* Selling is concentrated in NASDAQ, S&P and Dow Jones still not witnessing major selling.
* Drip, drip selling with only 145 stocks down 4%. Real sell offs have three to five 300 plus days in the beginning.
* After few days some sectors should work. At such turns it is critical to focus on sector action. Corrections lead to sector rotations. Sectors which are not dented by correction like Metals, Energy, Chemicals, Aerospace and Defense, Automobiles, Transport, Health Care, etc. will be my focus once market stabilizes.
* Current readings on Market Monitor show this as more an intermediate correction with possible more long side move ahead. There does not seem to be too much of a hurry in selling. Shorts might be walking in to a short squeeze trap.
* A few weeks of weakness like this might be good as both IBD 200 and Double Trouble have best performance after few weeks of correction. That is when you get many breakouts on stocks which are not overextended.

Boom -- I am very interested to hear about your moral problems with Monsanto?

I have a friend who works there and he loves it. In fact, he was the one who convinced me to jump in back before the split.

Did you have 20k options pre-split at that price???

Acheewawa.

BTW -- are your moral problems related to "franken foods" or their former role as a chemical co.?

Permabears need to be afraid. You got about 1.5 months to slap the bulls around before the bull stampede arrives.

Go long alternative energy (after the correction?)!

Global warming is very real. The detractors are lying even in the face of strong conclusive research for global warming.

Be warned, permabears. The alternative energy hyper bull rally is coming. When it finally gets into the consciousness of the masses that global warming is threatening our way of life, all the money will be pouring into alt energy.

Beanz, all due respect, but I think you've got your wires crossed.

I don't think anyone is disputing that the earth has warmed a tad (as it has off and on for millions of years). I think the dispute lies in causation.

Is it man made? Then what caused the warming in the 14th century? The Black Plague? What's warming Mars? Martian SUV's?

Or is it caused by normal solar cycles like the one that's peaking right now?

All I'm saying is don't get too caught up in the hype. There's a lot of money in being "green" these days, and it's not just Gulfstream Al Gore that's raking it in.

That said, I think there's wisdom in speculating in the more solid alternate energy plays, even though I'd lean towards those that will provide abundant electricity through nuclear capacity than perhaps those from the solar side, which I think will remain a niche power supply until the technology changes.
