The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Beanie,
I am still holding 1500 ONSM @ 3.12. Do you think I should sell now, or sell 1/2 or sell all? Do you think it will double in a short term, say 6 months or so?

sgv,

sell 1/2 or the whole thing if it looks like it's going negative.

sell 1/2 if you plan to hold for the longer term.

Hi Beanie/Board,

Any thoughts on SPRT and FTGX?

thanks,

mark the rat

Sat Jan 13, 08:02:00 AM EST

regarding the above 2 stocks...here is what kirkreport.com says,

Both positions triggered buy alerts from my watchlist based on unusual-volume breakouts following strong technical patterns (i.e. SPRT just having formed a nice cup-with-handle and FTGX with a strong ascending triangle pattern). If tech continues to lead, these stocks should do quite well. These are not recommendations so please don't use them this way - I'm only sharing what I'm doing - whether these fit your strategy, risk tolerance, time horizon, etc. is up to you to decide.

Short ICE???? HEHEHEHEHEEEHEHE>..
This call is the same as "SHORT NYX AT 97 AND EVEN A BETTER SHORT AT 99"
GUYS!! CONSIDER YOURSELF VERY LUCKY THAT ALL STOCK EXCHANGES (NYX, NDAQ, ICE, ISE, CME, NMX AND BOT) HAVE BEEN MADE PUBLIC IN THE LAST FEW YEARS. BUY EVERY SINGLE SHARE OF ANY OF THESE YOU CAN.. CANT GO WRONG LONG TERM WITH ANY OF THESE. ALL THESE STOCKS WILL HAVE GLOBAL MONOPOLY IN A FEW YEARS.

Sat Jan 13, 06:02:00 PM EST
Blogger gosu said...

I am not saying that ICE can't go down short term. Its just that with the broader market going up and a stock as strong as ICE, the odds are drastically stacked against you. Mark my words, buy Nymex (NMX) as much as possible. This is going to explode in the next few days.

Hi Beannie:

I have been reading your posts for a while and I am about to take some savings to buy some stocks.

My idea is to buy aprox. 10 / 12 stocks and hold it for a long time, as matter of fact, I am going to invest thinking in my kids future.

I already have and idea of the stocks you like most for a long term investment but my major concern is most of them are Tech stocks and thinking in a long term portfolio diversification is a must.

So the question is which 10 or 12 stocks would you pick today for a long term investment, looking for a decent return, that can be considered a diversified portfolio ???

Would you buy this stocks at the actual prices or would you wait for a better prices ???

Thanks a lot

RPL

RPL,

No matter what, you do need at least one tech stock for the longer term, and that stock should be either GOOG or AAPL or both. I like GOOG the most if you gonna keep it for years.

Gosu is right about the exchanges. You need to own at least one. I frankly like NYX and NMX and CME the most. In a way, NMX gets you exposed to the oil sector, so i'd buy both. So you want to buy NYX and NMX, or NYX and CME.

Of course, you got to have at least one bank. I would definately go with Washington Mutual (WM). They are expanding like chia pets in my area.

You want to own an investment house such as GS.

I am expecting a crash/depression perhaps 5 years from now after the market rips and roars a few more years. So you gotta own some gold. The GLD gold exchange traded fund is the place to be.

For retailers, i like SHLD, AZO, EBAY and AMZN the most. I believe AZO is gonna be the walmart of the automotive parts industry. Cramer's been pushing SHLD forever now. I like all 4. EBAY will be around for a long long time. It just purchased an online ticket site recently. I think everything EBAY buys will eventually turn into gold. EBAY understands technology.

So these are the ones i want to own first before buying anything else. I would actually want to take a full position right now because i think 2007 will be a great year. There could be a market correction coming (or maybe not) in about 1-2 months from now but everything should take off afterward.

GLD you can wait a while. What the heck, might as well buy it now too!

hey pam...I would put it into DTV or LEH.....DTV is hitting the trendline and LEH has jsut broke out. I put up charts on thebulltrader.com. But i think DTV is a safer play. But if it breaks the trendline, i would be concerned....BRett

The deal here is that I'm back at work (ugh) so my time is limited but I can hook up my lab top on Tues.

Is DTV a good stock that I won't freak out on and lose an incredible
amount of $$$ ? Please take out your crystal ball and let me know,
thanks for the tip...

Pam,
DTV is a safe bet, short or long term.
Long term outlook for industry is very good. If you have the patience, this is a good choice.

i agree with SGV. If u have patience this is a good stock. Since you wont be at ur computer 24/7, u can put money into DTV and will be happy over the months to come as long as it rides its trendline....I am currently putting my loan money on wed into the stock. So i hope to god it does not crash, lol.....Brett

Beanie1111 _ I like your LONG TERM Recommendations except WAMU (WM).
There bread & butter are the branches, They've been laying off tons lately in the mortgage side of their business. Although this will eventually be good for there bottom line, this stock has done almost nothing for the past 5 years. It goes up a couple after earning calls but always goes back to where it's started.
Until they're bought out, this stock will always trade in the $35-$45 range.
