The last few years have been great to me, as i was able to clobber the S&P500 many times in returns. But of course, you can't make a living trading the markets if you don't make great great returns. I'll try to give my readers trades that i think will make them money. However, you need to have money management skills, in order not to lose everything on a greedy or stupid trade. I may or may not already be in the trades i recommend. I may or may not trade the stocks i recommend. Due diligence is required on your part and the usual disclaimer that i am not responsible for your losses always apply. The floor of satellite radio : XMSR

XMSR closed @ 10.17

The stock has bottomed or nearly bottomed is my opinion. I've recommended this stock before and now would like to re-recommend it. It's a good price and i would consider entry. While i believe most companies that don't have earnings is very speculative, i think this a good risk/reward play.

I purchased a new car recently and it came with XM radio pre-installed. My goodness, i would never want to go back to AM/FM! Dude, prestine musical sound without the useless and annoying commercials makes for one joyful ride.

Like Cramer, i believe the ceos of XM and Sirius should seriously consider merging so they could start to raise the subscription fee to $15-20/month. Neither of the two heads are willing to let the other take control at the helm is my opinion. Can these two companies really think they can beat the other one? No way. The way things are, it really makes the business very cutthroat for both of the companies.

Swing/intermediate/longer term play.

GOOG: Will probably reach $500 this week. But once it goes above $500, think about shorting the stock for next week.

YHOO: in the long term, i am very concerned about YHOO. I have no doubt in my mind that YHOO will eventually go bankrupt because of the animal we call 'Google'. Google is doing incredible things with the web and with search. The more i visit google.com and play around with their software, the more i am in awe with the awesome power that this company possesses. GOOG is the most powerful tech company the world has ever known. With some time, you will be convinced and come to the same conclusion.

Larry Page has said that Google search is only currently at 5% of it's true potential. With its massive database, i am sure that Google will eventually do things that most of us can only dream of today. I believe many will be awestruck or somewhat frightened with the raw power of Google in the future.

It took Microsoft about 20 years to be the company that it is today. It only took Google 6 years to be the company it is today, and it's still growing awesomely fast. As much as i admire Bill Gates and his crew, i believe they stand no chance against Google. (It's like taking candy from a baby.)

I have no doubts that the 2 Google founders will eventually be the wealthiest people in the world. Numero Uno and Numero Deux.

GOOG for your 401k.

Remember that AKAM announce earnings today. I think the stock should move higher from here. Treat it as a daytrade, if you own the stock already as a core position.

anonymous,

AKAM acting like dung is because earnings that is coming up today. Alot of folks tend to reposition themselves, whether it be taking some off the table or buying put options as a hedge. It's not acting that bad. Only 4 points below its all time high.

I believe AKAM will announce good numbers today. Guidance should also be good. But how investors react is another story. The stock has gone up alot this year.

Regardless, i am betting on a gap up of the stock price afterhours. But i wouldn't use margin to buy the stock if i were you.

I am holding my position because i treat this stock also as a long term holding.

hey folks, i suggest you not go on margin for the time being. I believe we are due for a market correction next week. We are so extended short term. So be safe and buy bigger caps like SAI or AKAM. Stay away from freaky small caps.

Think about shaving some of your positions tomorrow morning or afternoon. You know, like shaving some body hair off. (Look at my picture)

The best time would be if MSFT and AKAM beats the numbers tonite and gaps up all the stocks for tomorrow. You get out then.

Some traders learn too much technical analysis and get paralyzed. In my opinion, you only need several indicators that are useful. You do not to learn over 30 different indicators! That's crazy. I've seen so many traders get so incredibly technical that it makes no sense. Just as you do not buy-and-hold forever, you also do not want to go too deep into technical analysis. The successful truth is almost always somewhere in the middle.

Do learn some technical analysis. I only know some. Guess what? I never post any charts for you guys. I seem to be doing ok. You got to mix it with fundamentals, the general market, and also your gut feeling. Your own style of money management is also important. Alot of times i feel dealing with your own emotions is really important. That's dealing with your own fear and greed.

AMZN: This was the stock i recommended to buy after earnings in one of my comments yesterday. Cramer was baggin on the stock on his MadMoney show. I'm here to tell ya that he is wrong about AMZN, like he was wrong about EBAY. It's headed higher and is a great company that will thrive in the future.

anonymous,

As i said before, i believe that alot of the action has already priced in the stock short term. The stock has gone up alot this year. Basically because everyone woke up and decided they really like this company and that it will be the next Cisco (per Cramer).

That being said, i really liked the earnings results. The stock will be ok. I am holding my position.

There are only few tech leaders right now, and AKAM is one of them. It won't stay down for long. I wouldn't be surprise it will trade at new highs by the end of the year.

RVBD posted a negative $.16 earnings. That's 10 cents less than what most analysts expected. Do I sell now to take my gains now or hold for a possible bigger gains in the future?
What do you think?

Blogger beanie11111 said...

sgv,

I actually think this quarter was pretty decent for RVBD. Revenues grew 36% from preceding quarter and 247% from previous year. Income was a net loss of .16 per share. Excluding options expense, the net loss was .02 per share.

I think the analyst EPS was based on the income excluding the options expense.

With the way the company is growing, they should become profitable next few quarters.

Impressive growth. I like the prospects of this company alot.

Less see how it reacts in the morning. I would probably sell 1/2.
