I'm glad some of you got in with me at the low $30's before this low float monster took off.
I gave a $100 price target during the day and now it seems very possible.
The street.com gives it a go, and cramer tonite gave it a target of $60 (which really means that it will at least see $80).

I think you should take 1/2 off because the stock is short term overbought and it can't seem to take out 30-32 or even stay above 30. LDK makes matter worst, because this stock is scarying everybody to sell the chinese solars.
Just take 1/2 off and you will sleep alot better at nite. You can't lose, assuming you bought at 23 or so.
The tide has turned for solars (thanks to LDK) and they're due for a small correction before resumption of the bull run.
Stay away from people who eat animals/fish that are still alive. You know, they fry a portion of the fish and they eat it while the fish is still moving around suffering. It is very cruel. Animals DO feel pain.
I saw that on Youtube today and feel sick to my stomach.

I want to thank you for creating this post. I was in the USAF and then after my time was up have been working in the corporate world for 4 years. I did what most of us do when we leave the military and started putting my money with a broker, I know stupid. Well, make a long story short I opened a sharebuilder account and put $400 a month in it (that is all I can afford right now) and let it build up. I did a lot of research and bought VMW the day they went public. I read a lot on the boards and found your blog and read every single thing you posted.
Well last night I did my research like you say to do on STV and THANKS! I have an open order this morning.
My sharebuilder account won't let me trade penny stock but I really like your idea on Solar.

i would not buy premarket on this huge gap up. Wait for it to come in some.
Normally i would let it trade for the first 30 minutes after open and see where the high is. I would then buy in if after the first 30 minutes a new high is made.

STV could go up 17 dollars (or more) today, but i doubt LDK can outleap STV.
If something bad happens to LDK, you cannot say i didn't lend you a helping hand. I don't know whether LDK will go higher from $44 but i do know that many traders will not hold a scandal stock for very long.
By all metrics, STV has much more upside due to growth and the float, even though LDK is in a better sector.
It's really up to you. For all i know, i can be completely wrong about LDK and end up squeezing tail between my legs.

STV may or may not see 60 today based on what i just said about the QQQQ.
But definately, the stock belongs in the above $100 category. It essentially has no competition in China and it is similar to the DISH we have here in the US. DISH currently trades at 22 billion market cap. I give STV maybe $5 billion market cap just for starters. That means $80 for STV.
Right now, it is definately trading on momentum and needs a consolidation phase before moving higher.
Remember that here DISH has alot of competition, from DTV and Comcast Cable. STV virtually has none.
but satellite tv is extremely restricted in china. means they will not have big market. my opinion.

You can say that you are shorting the dry shippers, but get ready to lose your ass. Do you even know anything about the dry shipping market? Do you know what BDI is? Do you know about ship expiration and higher contracts? Do you know about the supply and demand for products to be shipped v.s. vessel demand? The answer to all those is probably, no. You seem like the type that sees a run in a certain sector and shorts it because it has run. Problem with that is forward guidance and P/E.
For example, DRYS has run all the way up to $114 now and has a P/E of 18!!!! That is huge! DRYS is up right now $9.41 (8.96%), broke a 52 week high for the 3rd consecutive day, on volume that is 5 times that of the 3 month average. Does that seem bearish to you? Short all you want, but what a mistake it would be.
DRYS, EXM and DSX are all BUYS! DRYS $130-%150 after 3Q earnings. $200 after Q1.

i made a nice amoutn shorting heavily drys 111.5-112 this morning and covering below 110
115 will not be broken on drys until we see a pullback to 112
and that drys short at 100 was great because u had a downgrade...it traded down to 91 or so before getting 2 upgrades

Why do you feel obligated to short a stock for a point or two when you could have been long and have been along for the ride from $60 (in July) to $115 (today). Why take on that extreme risk (shorting) when even as the stock has doubled the P/E has only risen from 12 to 18. Seems like unnecessary risk to me.
Sure DRYS will be subject to profit taking, but why try to time it? Go long and sleep easy.

Buying More LDK Solar In Spite of Barrons Bearish Comments

Barron's jumped on the bandwagon this weekend to trash LDK Solar (LDK). I mentioned in the comments section of this post how there was no real support until 40-45 as this name had run so far so fast, and it was a bunch of momentum trading folks who didn't know much about the stock other than it was "Chinese," "solar", and "going up fast."
Now those people have exited the building and the stock has been decimated down to $40. While not calling 'a bottom', I will take a stab and add more here as its near the bottom end of that long range support. So I am buying here in the $40-$41 range.
Again, until a 3rd party auditor steps in and blesses what management is saying this stock will have trouble mounting any charge. The risk is, the 3rd party auditor comes in and says the fired controller is correct. However, inventory valuation is a bit of an art, not a science especially in this specific case (how much of the scrap silicon is use-able? up for debate - there is no scientific answer.)
But what Wall Street hates is uncertainty, over bad news (see how these financial companies go up once they put a number to their losses, even if the losses are in the multi billions). So uncertainty rules right now and the lemmings are rushing off the ship.
So it's a risk but the stock is a more an animal of emotion right now and those who got on for the ride without knowing much about the industry are getting bucked off. That said, unfortunately Trina Solar (TSL) is seeing damage from this news too.

I believe your short on DRYS will be good for a few points in the am... Looking back at the daily chart whenever DRYS has a volume spike as it did today the next day is a down day.... With the amount of volume today DRYS should have closed much higher unless there was supply coming in..

You are righ on Beanie .. we haven't seen the kind of bull run and the crowd mania normally seen at the height of a typical overheated run. But the way the chinese stocks are acting up lately start to make me feel like we may be approaching a scenario like that.. last few weeks have been crazy with chinese stocks.. going 30.. 40... 60% daily on some stocks. If 2000 bubble was by dot com's, I think this time around it might be the chinese stocks. In that case we may be nearing a blow off top.. what you think?
